Unbearable flickering
When I first started playing it seemed like maybe it was a lightning effect but after playing for a bit I started to feel like if I was epileptic I would be having a seizure. Checked out a couple gameplay videos on youtube and realized I for sure have a problem. Im running windows 10 ndivia gtx960m
1920x1080 resolution. Ive tried changing compatibility settings switching resolutions and fullscreen/windowed modes..reinstalled the game again...Any insight into how to resolve this issue is appreciated!

The game doesn't have any v-sync option (at least none that I could find), so I encountered this too at first. Once I enabled v-sync in my NVIDIA control panel for ILB, there was no flickering. This flickering was very subtle and was accompanied by screen-tearing thanks to no v-sync. I used Adaptive V-Sync with ILB and everything was fine. If you notice screen tearing with the flickering, I'd enable v-sync.

Otherwise, check to make sure you have the latest video drivers from NVIDIA (not through Windows 10 auto-update).

Also, are you running ILB in full screen or windowed mode? Have you tried running it in a mode you don't normally use? Do you have multiple monitors?

Thanks for the response. I've gone into nvidia control panel and turned on vsync but it had no effect. The flickering on mine is not in any way subtle I really wish it was lol. the only layer in the game that doesn't seem to be affected is the sky. When it flickers everything rendered except the sky flickers bright white. I'm not noticing any actual screen tearing. I've tried running ilb with every resolution..full screen..windowed..borderless..i've tried running it on a 1080 display and also a 4k display. I've tried adjusting every setting possible in nvidia control panel to see if it would have any effect on my problem at all but nothing. The last thing i have to try is updating to nvidias latest game ready drivers. Getting that done now Ill let you know the results
Gpu drivers are up to date still no change. I just did a partial restore(keep my files)..same exact problem..im really at a loss now I was hopeful reinstalling windows would end up fixing it..

Does something like Furmark[geeks3d.com] flicker as well? Or just ILB?

If you've tried Furmark and it's fine, next steps...

1.) Since you're on a laptop (due to the NVIDIA GTX 960M model number of your GPU), make sure the discrete graphics is the preferred device for 3D apps & games:
> From the NVIDIA Control Panel, go to 3D Settings -> Manage 3D Settings
> Select the "Global Settings" tab, then Preferred Graphics Processor
> Select "High performance NVIDIA processor"
> Save changes, reboot, then test ILB

2.) Next try this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMxofsjpTbY
3.) Finally, share your DXDiag report. A nice guide is located here. Use a service such as pastebin[pastebin.com] to copy the contents of your DXDiag report and then link it here.

Fumark is fine...the 960 is the preferred in nvidia control panel. The video you linked isint the same thing as it is the desktop background flickering into the game.. this is confined to inside the game... though I have ran the compatibility troubleshooter. It didn't change anything for me. Here is my dxdiag paste https://pastebin.com/d4unj6XW . Ive never had a graphical problem like this with any other game.

There is a new version of NVIDIA drivers that just came out yesterday which you don't have installed.

You can grab it from here: https://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/136675

I'm still looking through your dxdiag. :-)

From that dxdiag, you do have 5 crashes of the NVIDIA driver installer...

I'd definitely run through your system and clean up apps to remove services you don't want. They may or may not cause issues, but it's tough to tell if you don't have a fairly clean system to start with troubleshooting. Since this is a Dell, I assume the OS came pre-installed, correct? If it came with bloat/crapware, you might want to run through it and see what you want to remove. A decent guide: https://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2477704,00.asp

Also, you have Widnows updates failing. Not sure why, or how long ago, but something you'll want to fix. Most likely not related to this issue, but still worth checking out for overall system stability...

I hope that helps. If you're still having the issue even after cleaning up your system and addressing the NVIDIA installer crashes, then perhaps a Dev might have some additional advice?
I did a system restore the night before that removed all of these apps and left only what came with the laptop. After I did this I was having problems for a while getting Nvidia drivers to install again. The installer would keep crashing..after some reboots I managed to get them installed..Mcafee came with the system I never noticed a crash but I dont doubt it happened. It was expired but since resetting I now have a new 365 day actice subscription lol Not sure about the failing windows update but my windows is currently up to date. Gonna run full virus/malware scans again..sometime today when I get a chance I will record a video to post here so you can see exactly what my screen is doing. Maybe that will help someone recognize whats going on?

Here is a link to a video of the problem. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzAaHJ309E0 In my original post I said that at first I though it was just some sort of lightning effect from a storm. This is with a fresh install of the game like last time. As you can see the length of time between flashes is a bit sporadic and I tolerated this for a while..by a while i mean a couple of hours by the time I hit level 4 last time the flickering just became basically constant and super fast. Fast foward like 15 minutes and this is what it looks like now. https://youtu.be/WNjz5dCZx5o basically unplayable i dont know how anyone could stand staring at that for any extended amount of time lol. Something is going on to make this progressively worsen with time played and a fresh install of the game seemed to reset that for a few minutes at least lol Not sure if I mentioned already but the problem is exactly the same running the game using the nvidia card or only integrated graphics..This kind of makes me feel like its not a problem with my video card.

That is super strange. I have no idea why that would be happening. No one else is reporting this. Let me ask a few friends if they have any ideas.

Wow, that is bad.

I'm glad the developer replied for you. :-)

I did a little more research on this and have something new to try. BTW, I'm just a user like you, not a dev, but I'm always interested in troubleshooting gaming issues since I work in IT and do software engineering. Hopefully one of these solutions will help...

From https://us.battle.net/forums/en/hearthstone/topic/17347647745...

1.) Try disabling the "Desktop Windows Manager Session Manager"
> Go to "Start" > "Control Panel" > "Administrative Tools" > "Services"
> From services list, right-click "Desktop Window Manager Session Manager" and select "Stop"
> Right-click this service again and select "Properties"
> Change "Startup type" to "Disabled"
> Click "OK"
> Test ILB

2.) Make sure Razer Synapse software is removed and test. Reports of white flickering in other games with Razer Comms and Synapse software installed. Perhaps newer versions of this software from Razer would help? You listed that in the software you had.

Also, other troubleshooting for the flickering...

3.) Turn off Thread optimization to troubleshoot.
> NVIDIA control panel
> 3D settings > Manage 3D Settings > Global Settings (or change for just ILB)
> Set "Threaded optimization" to Off

Also, unrelated to your issue, but just my general advice...

1.) I would not remove Microsoft .NET libraries, as they are fairly passive and required by various applications that use .NET. Same goes for the Microsoft Visual C++ redistributes.

2.) You have a lot of audio mixing/editing software installed at one point (Native Instruments Komplete, Neutron Advanced iZotope, rekordbox, Reveal Sound Spire, Audacity, etc. in your list). That software may install audio codecs and drivers that could cause issues with your sound drivers in other apps. Since codecs have no universal standard (or rather loose standard), they're often installed on systems without much thought to existing codecs or new codecs installed later. Just like the ol' "DLL hell[en.wikipedia.org]", codecs are another type of Windows hell. And the problem is that even if you uninstall that audio mixing software, it can still leave behind the codecs it added, since they're often considered a shared resource. Same may be true for apps such as Spotify and Twitch that you have listed above. Also Twitch and VLC may add video codecs as well as sound codecs.

I went to try this 1.) Try disabling the "Desktop Windows Manager Session Manager"
> Go to "Start" > "Control Panel" > "Administrative Tools" > "Services"
> From services list, right-click "Desktop Window Manager Session Manager" and select "Stop"

Desktop window manager session manager or any combination of those words are not in that list for me. I didn't remove the .net libraries or the c++ those were removed by windows automatically when I restored. Those will all be downloaded and installed again once I get around to installing all of my software again. Razor synapse is removed its on the list I provided. That was software from the old mouse I used to use. Without that software there is no change. Without all of the software i had previously there is no change. Sorry if i seem short just got off work been very busy today..Ive done everything ive known of to try and everything you have came up with lol..damn this is frustrating..my fingers are crossed that Mr. Brevik is gonna bust out a magical solution for me lol.
In the mean time Im going to go ahead and do a complete wipe/restore of my laptop.
