Everything Feels Inconsistent
From the swinging, to the green speeds, to the amount the wind affects a shot, etc. It's almost as if the game operates on RNG.

Agree with you 100%. It is like real golf :)) I know I hate it too.

A fast green rating for 2 different courses will feel and break different if the firmness is different, the wind is not finished I would say...a wedge with a tail wind has no effect

Try the FIRST golf game they made, it has backspin and is as hard or as easy as you care to make it......no RNG ever.

Yes it is like real golf.Every time u play you have a different round outcome. Also u notice the winds are realistic if you are sheltered or out in the open. The game does a good job and not seeming funky of fake.I do agree with the backspin issue that could use some work. But other than that no real complaints.

I doubt we will see back spin addressed or for that matter any changes to this current game version.

From about the time the free Xbox release of this game(I know that is not PC linked)I have seen a big influx of new players...and almost all of them are playing head to head, without yet figuring how to change type shot yet...they bounce around trying figure out how to flop chip and pitch, not realizing its based on the club you choose.

I've practiced all of this. The game is inconsistent. Thanks for writing me off.

This is my exact opinion.
The game looks amazing but unity is notoriously bad for optimisation and a lot of players who have problems should try lowering their settings and trying again.
Frame drops, even small ones, will affect shot consistency.

I'm on master clubs now and it's very rewarding when you get it right :)

As tee2green says, the only problem is the lack of back spin.

Also, stick to hbo official courses early on :)

Not sure where your coming from, but to address your OP the game is so predictable(game controller)that I can predict the exact landing spot to withinn a foot or too for all shots.

Really once you know the math its the same every time, if you dont pay attention to green settings, fairway firmness and such before you start round I can see where you might think its RNG from round to round.

I do it most my games. Only way to learn is to play right. The first 4 round in this game I sucked large hooking and slicingevery shot. By the 5th round I had figured out the golf swing and the game got better from there. So bascally those that are not willing to learn are only left with the crying about it option.

Its very inconsistent. Almost to the point where I would say that it lies to the players. When you adjust for a 9 mph crosswind and your ball doesn't reflect that there is a 9mph crosswind...you either have a heck of a ball...or the game is broken. I have hit directly into a 15 mph wind and have my ball not even be affected...even though again I have made proper adjustments and my swings were dead on. Furthermore, the green reading is extremely broken. When you have little to no break and the ball breaks a cup length or more...or if there is no break and the ball breaks period...there are problems. This isn't real life...we are not there feeling the wind or examining the green so we can only go on the information that the game gives. When that information is wrong...its cheap, broken and the dev's need to fix it.

Yes I have noticed the wind is a bit messed up it's either there in play or not at all. I've adjusted for 8 mph wind only to have it go as if it was either 0 mph or 20 mph. So I'm not sure if it's the way the player create the course or not. Perhaps some sort of wind grid options to see if a wind is actually there and how strong it is?

Also the putting grid is not highly accurate, it only reads the elevation at the intersections for bead movement. Those instances are usually detectable by looking at the adjacent grids to get the general pitch of the green. If its quiet or varying there is more of a chance that the ground could be uneven.
