i play jnpg on pc and tgc on console.
For anyone on the fence about mouse play, it works quite fine. It is quite easy to get the backswing and downswing within the confines of the blue "perfect" areas. It is much harder to consistently get the straight swing within the blue "perfect" zone. For me anyway.
I do however feel that this is consistent with a very good game. You will screw up your swing as soon as you have a few birdies in a row and become complacent with loss of full attention to what you are doing. I kind of like that as it almost keeps me focused.....almost :-))))
Yes, I screw up all the time but it's all my own fault. It's not the games fault and it's not the mouse play at fault. It's all operator error.
My way of playing is harder as I play left handed with a right handed mouse and have been since the 80's. No changing that now. If I can do it (with a bit of cursing and frustration) then anyone can do it, given a bit of patience and focus and the desire to play what is a very good game with very nice graphics.
The graphics is perfectly soothing after a hard day at work and the game is absolutely rewarding as it commands your full attention at all times
I absolutely recommend this game!!! I have zero afilliation with the company that made the game.
Yes, it's not perfect. Who and what is perfect after all...except for Sophia Loren or for the younger crowd Gigi Hadid
Happy gaming
What I remember is my dad coming home one day with a big cardboard box. Inside it was a shoe box sized black and silver box with two knobs on top of it and a whole pile of wires. I believe there was another smaller box that adapted the wires from this box to then plug into the back of our tv that was in itself huge and weighed a ton......dad would grunt moving the tv to get at the back of it
That was my first gaming experience with dad......PONG.
The ball was a square :-)))))
.....and did we ever play that!! I would go to bed at night seeing white lines going up and down as I fell asleep. :-)))
After that came Atari and about 40 odd games and then my fav Intellivision. I still own my intellivision and about 60+ games. I even have all the plastic sleeves for the controllers!! :-)))
Don't listen to the whingers if your considering playing this with a mouse and keyboard.....although actually buying a decent mouse will help alot...go for it.
I play TGC (Original) every weekend, .........................YES................it is very easy if one picks a course which is not Hardest, but you know what? I LIKE having fun in golf.
The ONLY true negative to TGC (Original) is it requires a very powerful PC (which, I have). (it is SC Ready).
I have posted how this game series could be turned around and NO one would be negatively impacted.
The Devs do visit these threads.
The Devs and owners have noticed this is not doing perhaps as well as they would like.....(any counter to that fan bois?)..............On the Console.....it most likely is doing much better as that market is much softer on games for reasons too obvious to point out.
Also, what is a "whinger"?

Steam reviews of people playing less than 2 hours that cannot control the swing and complaining.. Their is a challenge to master the game mechanics, it take time but it is very rewarding when you improve your skills. Working on your bag, knowing you club distance, rolls, it take time. It is not the old TW games which I liked, it is harder to get the hang of it, I personaly very liked the challenge to learn how to play, I can understand it will not fit the need of a casual crowd that want to shoot -10 right from the get-go.
Easier to say the game is bad, take your refund, and blame the devil developers.
To quote someone on Reddit:"Ya cause it’s a bunch of kids that are pissed that they can’t hit every shot straight and land it at the hole and spin it back next to it.
You don’t see a bunch of complaints on tgctours forums where the actual players are."
And now people start to realize that you can play with tempo to add spin without barely touch the loft box.
The swing mechanic is based on tempo, therefore 3 click is not possible
Have fun playing alone on TW 2012 and TGC1, when others having a blast on TGC 2019 playing online tournaments, which can be played with a friend on turn order at the same time, which is an awesome experience.
I play with a controller, I have friends playing with k/m and they can compete for the top of leader board as well as me if not better.
And about the #gamesalematter, If golf games sold well on Pc we would have others option since many years, and EA might not have stop doing golf game in a general way.
It is not being a fan boy to be grateful to have a very good golf game on pc, not perfect but already great, with good online functionalities to compete, without any pay to win option or levelling up you avatar skills (which would give a huge advantage to no-life, retired/unemployed like in many games). The playing field is fair.
Or I could just skip the game because the game should be golf, not mouse tuning. Sorry devs but you're hurting yourselves by making the game too painful to play.
BTW, many players on official forum complain that the game is too easy. Seems it is hard to please everybody.
I am not sure that they will not hurt themself if they make the game easier, they will disappoint the sim crowd that support the game from the begining.
Those who's fun is derived by extreme tedium/difficulty could be served via added layers in the "Options" settings.
Those who wish to have fun sooner than later could also be served by NOT selecting these "Optional" difficulty settings.
That the Devs..............and this is their THIRD (3rd)..........try at this..........STILL haven't caught on.........is..........baffeling, and disappointing.
Do they really believe people will shell out $60.00 for "The Golf Club 2020"? (beyond the very very vocal minority)?
I have stated how to fix this, they will do one of Three (3) things..........(1) Continue as they are and hope the Consolers will take what they are given and be grateful, (basically abandon the PC Market).
(2) Make a change to the game to accomidate more players wishes.
(3) fade away into obscurity.
Personally, I hope for (2)...................but (3) just seems the way it is going.
