Control question
Can this game be played with a mouse or do I need a steam controller?

I am so looking forward to this game!!
I used to play all the Links games back in the 80's and early 90's with my dad.
We literally put 1000's of hours into it and I even had a log book to log the distances of different clubs using different power shots out of fairway, ruff, sand etc

This will take me back down memory lane....maybe even get dad (74) to play again

You can play with mouse or gamepads.

If you love links, play JNPG. Better Golf game for sure.

Another question as a follow up.
I know it will probably be considered a stupid question seeing that we are on Steam, but I'm asking anyway.....

Are there better controllers than the Steam controller that are compatible with steam to play this game? I've also seen pictures yesterday where people add a joystick to the flat part pad thingy on the top right corner of the Steam controller. Is that beneficial.

Sorry, but I really have no clue I know. I played with a mouse all my life after Pong, Atari and Intellivision days back when the rainbow was still black and white

I've been playing TGC and TGC2 with mouse and kb. At first, 2019 threw me for a loop. I couldn't control either the mouse or an XBOX controller. So, yesterday, 6 hours later, everything clicked and I'm now having no problems keeping in the cone and getting mostly p/p and s/p. Without giving too much away, Experiment a bit with your tempo and the mouse is fine. The main problem is with the lack of backspin, even with an LW. I guess it was a trade off for HB. Minimize the backspin to eliminate the ball checking up on chips from the rough.

In your settings menu under Controls there is also a mouse swing sensitivity setting when you can adjust. This might help the result that you’re seeing.

Spent hours adjusting various settings ... no joy , tried tempo, this tempo that , 8 out of ten shots go way left. the ball even goes left when fade is added.

Nice link! Good info there.

Also seems the Xbox controller is the controller of choice for those who prefer controller

I almost bought a PS4 controller, but after everything I've read so far I think I'm going to learn how to use my mouse properly once I purchase this game, which I'm definitley getting.

Still looking for a few things to read to get my head straight before I plunge into the deep end
