Make a dad DLC...
...because some people don't want to roleplay as woman.

Men can be a parent too. Why is being a father less affectionate than a mother? I want to play as a male. So this is neither trolling nor sjw-ing, it's just plain and simple the truth. It's great that nowadays female gamers get the opportunity (after decades) to play their own gender in rpgs, but why should males get the short strwa suddenly? That's one step forth, two steps back.

DLC could just be an alternative sprite with small text adjustments. DO IT. Thanks.

Stop expecting games to convince you you're literally in them. You don't HAVE to be 'you' in an RPG to be immersed in it.

Dude seriously? Just making it a guy isn't that simple. Especially if the story has gender specific moments.

There is a different bond to a child between men and women whether we like it or not. The father doesn't carry the baby for 9 months.

Games aren't just experiences where the character is your avatar, they're also stories that unfold through gameplay. In this case it's a woman.

It's like looking at a wonder woman comic and complaining you want a wonder man comic instead.

While I agree with your overall assessment about character gender...I have to comment on the mother/father/child bonding... look I get they carry it for 9 months... but honestly a man can bond with his child just as much as a woman if not moreso in some cases. This doesn't discredit that both have different roles and both can and should be written differently for different expieriences. I disagree the bond is different though. Ive seen plenty stories of heartbroken fathers who didn't get their child (my own father being one).I've also seen mothers that don't care but get the child because "the bond is more special" I honestly and truly think that mentality should go the ♥♥♥♥ away because it geniunely has ruined lives before.. However, thats not to say I think there aren't gender specific moments and dialogue that definately make it nigh on impossible to just switch character genders in a story written specifically for one and that its not just simply changing a she to a he (or in other cases a he to a she), I 100% agree on that.

Are you emotionally affected by what gender your pixel person is? Does this apply to other media... are you unable to read books about women? Watch films involving women? Where do you draw the line as to how similar a protagonist needs to be to not make you uncomfortable? Do they also have to have your hair color? Body shape? Pant size?

How do you deal if it's a fantasy race or creature? Do you worry about how big their ding-dong is? If it's too big, would you need a slider so that you can set it to ideal penile length?

Thanks in advance, this is for a project. I love you.

In my opinion the character gender does not break game immersion and enjoyment that much and I don't believe the game needs a father DLC.

But let's take a moment to think a little bit outside of the box. What if the reason for the OP to want to play as a father is for some bad life experience as a unloved son (by his mother) or maybe he is a father that for some reason can't parent his child because of a bad mother...

Is it way too hard to accept the story for what it is : a story about a mother and her child ? Is it always necessary to come and claim "Hey, change this or that or i don't buy this game !". From my perspective you are just insulting their creativity.

If you read a book and don't like a character you don't call the author and say to him/her : "Hey that character is uninteresting, change your story or i resell this book !"

If you can't accept it just don't buy it. There is sooooo many games on steam and elsewhere.

Cyiel - that's a good point. I've never heard anyone request an author rewrite a book to make their protagonist more like them. The protagonist is the main character of the story. Just like Sachi is the main character of this one. It seems pretty ridiculous to request (or from some of these comments, demand) a smaller indie developer to re-write their entire game because you want the main character to be who you want them to be. That's not how stories work, for starters. Also, if a developer catered to even one person to make a playable character just for them, everyone would start demanding it. It would be impossible to make everyone happy, and it would ruin the game. Especially if it became a trending thing in games. Every game would suffer because devs would be spending so much time building characters to be "all-inclusive". Nothing is all-inclusive. That's not how anything works and for good reason.

I think the main problem here is that people like OP don't read books.
