Game not working FIX

I was trying to run via Steam and kept getting errors, crashes, etc.

I just had to run the .exe as Administrator, fixed everything!

Note: I am running on windows 10

Did not work for me, I solved it by running the .exe in Win8 compatability mode.

For me it's a roll of the dice. It works, 1 out of maybe 2 dozen times I try to launch it. I tried literally everything I can think of, looked up guides on and off steam as well. Nothing seems to fix the problem.

Issue is, when it does work, it works.... issue for me is launching the game. Something between starting the game and 3DO intro causes it to freeze up for me a vast majority of the times I launch the game.

Precisely my issue. To throw even more confusion into the mix, I recently got a brand new PC and the game works perfectly every time I run it. The new computer is superior than my old one (Alienware laptop) and was built at home with every part being pretty much a straight upgrade. Sounds like having a more modern computer would worsen the problem but it actually fixed it entirely...

find the file in your computers folder, and right click then hit 'run as administrator'

I run my base resolution at 1280 x 768 and also go into files and run it as administrator. Sadly I have the same issue where this only works 1-2 times after trying to launch it 12+ times. Another sad part about running it through files is steam doesn't detect it so your play time doesn't get recorded etc. I really wish they would release a quick update to fix this issue. Not mad I am just dissapointed in steam allowing a game to not work properly on windows 10.

I honestly think it has something to do with the 3DO intro video.

Try deleting settings.cfg and amrts.txt and run the game. Also dgVoodoo made the game not run for me at all, even though it says it works. I had to remove all the settings related to that and it seemed to help. dgVoodoo is used to make games run at higher resolutions, but don't worry about it if you haven't used it. Run as Admin seemed to help at times too. Just trying to help, good luck!

hello everybody i think i found thie fix!!!
press the windows key type "run" and open the application
then type "appwiz.cpl"
find "legacy components"
and enable "direct play"
then it should download it
then run the game from the .EXE as admin
i DID NOT need to use compatibility mode

when i type "appwiz.cpl" control panel opens up and there is no legacy components in the list. could you please give more detail?

when i type "appwiz.cpl" control panel opens up and there is no legacy components in the list. could you please give more detail?

Click on "Turn Windows features on of off" on the top left hand side. it will take you to list with legacy components and direct play

You just need to go to the game installation directory of Armymen RTS and find this file: dbghelp.dll and then rename it to dbghelp_old.dll. Here is the path to the directory where this file is located in my computer: \ Army men Rts \ library \ dbg \ xxx.
