Superbot is AWESOME - Here's everything wrong with him
Don't get it twisted, I LOVE Superbot.

Fantastic character, despite some of the other players' response to his gameplay style. Some people aren't a huge fan of the way the character plays so heavily around the safe areas, but I think that's what makes him so powerful- the modularity of it all, the character is intended to be a BUDGET character. He has so many power-cells that you can buy just about anything, re-roll affixes to your heart's content, and still come out with builds surpassing the strength of conventional classes. Here's where I think he could be improved, on specifically which perks, and why.

FOR those wondering, I've beaten every difficulty on every class, including Superbot. Please reserve judgements for after you do the same- or if you disagree, do so respectfully.

I will be going in order of which perks appear on the character's select-screen perk list, on the right of his splash image.

If a Perk is not listed, I have no issues with it.

Overdrive Upgrade: Super Backup!

The backup perk is fun, but it lacks oomph to carry your runs. Any character with any kind of built-in summon usually can build a kit around it, one such build I'm a big fan of is Recon's Simple Geometry + Nasty Mirage build, that makes Guardian 1-4 look like a joke with how much area DPS it can output for how safe it is.

The problem I think is that the bowtie bots just don't hit hard enough, and Alfred doesn't give you enough of a shield to make it worth your while.

The way I'd fix this perk would be to increase the damage of the Bowtie bots. There's too much going on in this perk, with the stealth, and the bot backup, to make it really worth your while most of the time. Just the stealth would be enough, but more flavor here would be really nice. Rather than extended stealth, a perk that made Captain McSlice mark enemies similar to Engineer's Targeting Protocol would be very fun, I think.

Captain's Greetings

There isn't much to say here. Captain's Greetings is an awesome idea with not-so-awesome execution- grapple-slicing an enemy is every movement shooter kid's DREAM, and Superbot's perk makes it a reality, just not to the extent I would have desired.

There's a couple of ways to fix this. One such way is to add the all-coveted Arc Wave from Recon's Sharp Wave perk. Another way would be to near double the damage modifier. Grappling Hook has a relatively long cooldown without items, bringing that damage up to 250% or even up to 500% would really sell that "Slash-and-done" fantasy Superbot tries to achieve with this perk. One cut and over- this would even incentivize taking items like Cookie or Cheese over other much more aggressive item choices like Magnet, as the guaranteed mark would have less value than a lower cooldown on the Grappling Hook gadget.

Charged Shot

This one-- THIS ONE I took SO personally, I have to admit. "Charged shot", but you can't actually charge the shot, and the damage is sadly pitiful. I understand what they were going for here, but it just didn't deliver in so many aspects. Let me charge my cannon like the Gauss Cannon, dammit! I'm a HUGE "Charge your gun" person, I even made a mod for Risk of Rain 2 featuring such a character out of my love for such.

The only thing I would do on top of making it an actual chargeable cannon, would be to remove the double-charge gimmick, Double Trouble, in exchange for a faster charge time, or a higher crit-damage modifier.

Hammer Pants

There isn't much to say here. Hammer pants just under performs, sadly, due to the long cooldown on the boosted Hero Cape damage mod.

The very simple fix would be to increase how much damage you gain for Hero Cape, but I could be mistaken.

That's all! The rest of Superbot's perks are pretty par for the course, featuring a good spread of options for the average player. Some things I would have loved were more modifiers for Captain McSlice, but I understand why they didn't add too many specific perks. Superbot is intended to use ALL of his arsenal, though, I would greatly appreciate seeing Superbot getting buffs to the rest of his arsenal so they can shine through how strong you can make his Super Cannon in comparison.

Thank you for reading!

I agree with everything you wrote here. Especially with charged shot. The only thing I'd want to add is that your truly charged shot should imo have innate penetration. Almost like a weaker version of the "mega" alt-fire variant.
And if RyseUp wants to keep Double Trouble, they could make it so that if the charged shot crits, you can tap to fire a second full-charge shot right after, rewarding good aim (even tho it would make auto-crit runs more bonkers than usual)

Yeah, I agree completely with both of those notes. Even if we can't get a true charging shot, giving Charged Shot innate piercing would help a ton in and of itself.

I agree with everything and I just wish eating weapons would also change how your main weapon fires. That way I could have a charge shot if I ate a sniper weapon that has a scope.
Or a shotgun spread if I ate any weapon that had a shotgun spread.

I get that eating weapons that are at my level gives health back but since McSlice with the right item choice can become really OP with it's health aspect, that aspect of the class ability just seems kinda of lame.

I love using the grappling hook with the McSlice but the cooldown is so darn long. But since their are multiple items that boost the damage of using that combo and reduce it's cooldown.... like maybe drop grappling hook's original cooldown by a second or two? Not so much that it becomes spamable of course.

I will say the viewpoint change and having a class that plays so differently from the other classes is pretty neat in of itself.

I'm not super experienced, but here is a very very tiny problem I have with the eating.

Every weapon is the same.
I tend to just go "Oh. It's a level 6 food item." because even though I'm staring
at my favorite gun with my favorite alt-fire and great affixes,
all it is is a food item with a star value.

Yeah, I agree with both of you as well, it would be cool if the eating system had a little more to it. I like it as-is, but there's always room for "what if... more?"

I think part of the problem with hammer pants is that Superbot sucks at getting up high. Other classes can get reliable height with any weapon that has a rocket jump alt-fire.

Grapple is one way to get high, but if I'm trying to do hero cape damage, I will probably take captain's greetings so I can get fine-tuned gadgets. And then I don't want to waste my grapple on getting up high, I want to grapple and slash.

Adding rocket jump as a possible alt-fire perk would help. Or maybe giving Superbot the shovel as his secondary weapon.
