Does the shovel only give one reward?

SO I am wondering if there is ever a point to take the shovel after unlocking the bunny slippers? are there more holes to dig up?

you can get a free item and 2 weapons drops in the first zone since 3 dig spots spawn, other than that and what you said its just data logs and weapons i think, i drop it when i get to the mid area of canyons

I've seen dig spots up to the water station but yeah, i'd drop it after canyons cause the likely-hood isnt worth the gamble verses getting a decent sub-weapon to help with raw DPS.
