Beginner at Roboquest needing some tips
im new at this game, been trying to go at it with no guide and have put around 9 hours into the game so far. i have about 300 Wrenches, 1 energy crystal and have unlocked the commando and the engineer, the gadgets i have is; Pogo stick, Rollers, Business Briefcase and the sunglasses. apart from that, my basecamp progress is 41% and i play on the "hard difficulty" (im playing most if not all my games on hardest difficulty and im not complaining about the difficulty, im simply looking for tips on mechanics or strategies i might be missing)

when i do a run i usually get to Fields and sometimes Energy Center, but around that point i get defeated, what do i need to do to ensure i reach the later maps more frequently? is there any strategy to it? or is it all just RNG?

What I did in the beginning was focus on using Guardian, lean heavily on Bastion with the focus on grabbing Tactical Slap (25% Bastion Regen on a modified Bash), Bonk Hammer(Bash turns into a weapon, 6% chance to drop 6 more healing cells), Green Beret(weapon damage boosted by 40% under 7.5m), and Safe Space(repair scratch damage when Bastion is active). Throw in some items from the shop that focus on healing cells (duration, potency, etc.) and it increases your chances for survival in the run.
Bastion used as an intermittent ability, i.e., double-tapping Q to avoid damage from an AOE attack or the like, is massively more useful than just triggering it and letting it roll.
And if you can get Quick Trigger(15% faster firerate)+Tempo Shot(every 4 shots do 60% more damage) or just 2x Quick Trigger alone, that will save you a massive headache depending on the gun you're using.

And don't be afraid to trigger Bastion with Safe Space active while running away or avoiding fire after taking a massive hit leaving you with lots of scratch damage. One of the few abilities in the game to "self heal".

The ideal tactic is to never stop moving. Most enemies don't lead their shots at all, so if you keep moving a lot of generic enemies will miss you. There are some shots with homing or large hitboxes that require more direct attention, but usually just moving will be enough to avoid a lot of attacks. You get a lot of healing cells, but you need a lot to offset each hit, so avoiding damage is ideal.

Play the class you like the most. For example, I find Commando to be the most fun for me as it synergizes with my playstyle. Give each class a run or two to see what kinds of abilities they have and which ones you like.
my best run had so far was with engineer using a beluga cannon that had +8% armor while held, +15% explosion radius and -15% heavy weapon penalty
building for cryo damage, healing bot efficiency, armour% and just staying at a distance blasting stuff, but that only got me as far as the energy center

Well this won't be a rocket science tip but just keep moving and don't get hit. That's all there is to the game.

This game definitely has a learning curve.
You just get better by playing.

First few runs i never got out of the 2nd area.
Now i breeze through without getting hit.
You will subconsciously how to dodge stuff.

Also the progression upgrades to make things A LOT easier.
The only thing i used to struggle at were the small arena's.
But in this you just have to keep moving along the edge in circles.
