Getting tired of games crashing on my system that SHOULDN'T be. My Specs should have no problems what so ever with this game.
So what you mean is, it's a reoccuring issue affecting multiple games on your rig.
My bet is you probably installed some crap software that's affecting your machine.
I am curious though, what "crap software" do you think I might have that could be affecting a couple select games, but not others that are far more demanding?
You're welcome. But if you have multiple games failing on your system, maybe you still should check your system before shifting the blame on the devs.
Even if the game crashes on other supports, your issue might be unrelated.
You're not playing on a console, after all.
Some software that allows the players to record their gameplay can be the source of some problems, and if you have stuff that's supposed to optimize your system or help you tweak it you may want to check that. You know, the kind of utilities that toy with your GPU, your audio, etc.
As I said, the crashing only happens with very few select games that have a track record of crashing or being poorly optimized. It's a fairly new system with pretty high-tier specs (3090ti, i9 13900k, 64gb ddr5 ram) and I don't play many games that much anymore, but I have played some pretty demanding games (more demanding than roboquest) buttery smooth, no crashes, yet games like Roboquest, Fortnite have been problematic. Strange. Who knows. Like I said though, this game has quite a lot of posts about crashes, including consoles. Seems to be the Engineer class in particular causing them with his drones, that's what I was doing when it happened.
Fornite and Roboquest were both made using Unreal Engine. That's the connection between the two games if you were wondering.
As for the "random crashes" we have no lead when it comes to those kind of crashes you're talking about.
As for consoles, the crash we have are programming related (problems within the programming itself) and we're getting rid of most of them. Meaning consoles should crash way, way less (honestly, it's already a very small fraction of the playerbase that is witnessing crashes on consoles already).
So your crash seem hardware related and console crashes are software related.
When I'm saying hardware-related, I'm not saying it's your fault, I'm saying those kind of crash are way harder to deal with because we would need:
- to have your exact setup
- to manage to figure out where the crash comes from
- to find a solution to that crash that would probably be only required for your particular setup
Unfortunately, we're a very small team and that's not an easy thing to do for us. If that crash happens on a lot of hardware then we will of course have a higher sample to try fixing it.
That being said, there are a couple of thing that you could do to find a workaround on your end (or find a lead on what's causing the issue):
- try turning off every other software that is running while playing Roboquest (identifies the one causing the issue if that proves to be the right lead)
- try capping your FPS directly within the game
- try playing in fullscreen
- try playing other classes and let us know if you still encounter the crash / turning off
- try removing any form of custom setup modifying how games are handled by your GPU/CPU
I know this is far from being an ideal solution, but that's the only one we can communicate about.
