Gunfire Reborn has more class variety, more elements to randomise, more variety in visuals. It looks nicer. But without running/sprinting, I just think about how slow all the characters feel.
Roboquest has more movement options, much more mobility, better weapon handling, faster enemy engagement. It feels better. But with limited maps and enemies, I just think about how every run feels the same.
I like them both. I prefer the gameplay of Roboquest, but I enjoy the variety of Gunfire Reborn.
If it affects your decisions at all, Roboquest supports a single co-op partner (max 2 players). Gunfire Reborn supports up to four players.
More class variety, better/more interesting weapons, better maps, better boss fights. and if you want coop its not even a question.
Gunfire's base class variety is great but it ends up where the classes are too designed towards one weapon or element which makes things more rng dependent and annoying when attempting a build.
Id say gunfire reborn has the better items, weakest part of roboquest is definitely the basic stat increase items instead of more interesting effects. Thats a trend in roguelikes/lites I despise, makes things boring and flavorless.
You could make the argument either way tbh but for me I find the flaws of gunfire reborn to be annoying to work around, while roboquest baseline just feels great to play and the roguelite stuff is just a nice addition for some variety. Helps that it has an actual significant skill ceiling and isnt just entirely grind to max out your upgrades
I respectfully disagree. Dealink has less weapons than Roboquest and Gunfire Reborn and its lowest difficulty is significantly harder than Roboquest's lowest difficulty. While I do like the more mature setting and art style of Deadlink over both games, Deadlink can be far more punishing than necessary and subject the player to an excessive number of cheap deaths.
Gunfire Reborn definitely feels rather slow and its save system is really weird by any standard.
That said, if you are considering various roguelite FPS's, Ziggurat 1 & 2 and Nightmare Reaper are also great options.
Unlocks not being shared in session is also annoying af, otherwise great gameplay.
Jokes aside, they're both good, I just prefer the high octane style of Roboquest.

This is the main reason I prefer to play Gunfire with a group. Drops can be shared, so we each pick a different character/build and coordinate, way more enjoyable compared to solo.
To answer the OP though, I'll just echo what Snackrat wrote above, but I also want to add that RQ has the better OST by far. Similar to Hotline Miami, the adrenaline pumping music is just crazy.
Buddy, seriously, you never played any other roguelites before?
It only takes an hour to beat the game, it's not a deal breaker that you can't save in between levels YET.
Don't start a run if you don't have the time to play it then. Pretty simple logic.
Roboquest is about how you play.
Simple as that, both are good, but they do not scratch the same itch.
