All progress reset, really?
As an very EA supporter (followed almost every update over years, giving feedback, filling out surveys, reporting bugs, and even getting 4 friends to buy the game), this feels pretty bad.

I just don't have the time nor care to grind out 25-30 hours of meta progress again.

Re-installed for the release, and now uninstalling. Huge let down.

Yes, this is sad, man. Progress is lost, all wrenches gone. Here we go again for glory, brobot

I personally love the fact that progress is reset.
I's difficult/annoying for me to remember what I was doing 1 year ago or what I was leveling/progressing or even what I DID as boss killing and general progression etc.

So starting on a clean slate is really enjoyable.

That being said yea to have everyone be happy with the game I think putting an option
  • Would you like to reset [Yes]/[No]"
would have been perfect :bern:

But probably more complications and annoyance in a dev perspective when there's already a million things you need to deal with?

the game changed a lot, so it just makes sense. it also might have caused issues, and this is a way to prevent it. i don't mind, because like i said, it is basically a new game, depending on when you played last.
i never de-installed it, you did. so... i guess it's been a while since you played. so why not just play again? some of the old stuff doesn't even exist anymore, and you would have to unlock things anyway... :conwayshrug:

Roboquest FAQ:

"Will our progress be reset when the 1.0.0 comes out?
Yes we will probably reset your progress when the game comes out. It is mainly due to the addition of achievements, the tracking of your ingame scores and the potential additions to the basecamp upgrades and story bits."

Added this specific note around January iirc.

Yes the progress reset sucks especially after you unlocked everything and got used to the hang of all the things.
What got me though was the reset of all the settings. I don't remember my sensitivity and everything else so it's going to be a rather frustrating time until I get used to things as playing just feels wrong for the time being.
VahidSlayerOfAll Nov 7, 2023 @ 8:11am
yeahhh im not doing all that again.....
not even a pity thanks for supporting us to make it out of EA bonus...

Keeping any progression wouldn't make any sense. The levels are different, the camp upgrades are different, the classes are vastly different.

The release build changes so many things that resetting is the only logical thing to do. The progression within the different maps, and the crystal hunt would be completely off if you were to start with the camp fully upgraded.

Did they promise progress will be carried over or something?
When it comes to progression systems it's often the case that coming out of ea is paired with a wipe.

yeah, 1.0 is basically a new game. i played every bigger update and they all changed the game. so i am looking forward to 1.0 and the new stuff.

to all playing it fresh (again): have fun, and maybe bring a friend with you.

the game has gone through plenty of changes, they reset progress everytime and simply just refunded the currency for you to reapply, they never flat out deleted everything

yeah not sure why this progress reset also had reset all my settings. in addition i do think this new progression is worse in some aspects. like how gadgets have to be found by doing things for npcs that are tied to other levels. meaning i gotta do a scavenger hunt and punish my run to do these things.

To those of you complaining about losing progress, literally just install cheat engine and get your wrenches back.
The rest of the game needed to reset to prevent save data issues.
Surviva 777 Nov 7, 2023 @ 3:35pm
I don't mind with the progress being wiped, it's fun grinding again with new content added to Roboquest. Do the grind and play the game, it's an adventure worth doing.

It's so cool, i like the fact that we can farm and discover again the game !
