Why did you revoke the older keys if they had already been purchased in the bundle?
It's a complicated license issue, but a lot of devs revoke old keys to prevent reselling for profit, especially when it comes to humble bundle's BS. You have to understand that Humble only asked for an X amount of keys from the Roboquest publishers. Any more than that and they have to create more keys to sell. This requires dealing with the Publisher and the Reseller. If humble claims that all of those X keys have been claimed/sent out, then you should revoke the rest because they're obviously no longer valid.
Humble Bundle has been a terrible marketplace for the last few years. They constantly run out of keys because they only have a limited supply, and they ask for Devs for an X estimated amount of keys for said month/deal, and since they don't want to end up with "extra" keys in their inventories, they under-stock and hope for the best.
I've had this happen to me three times in the past where I bought a game from a deal on Humble Bundle and I had to wait 2-3 weeks to get the game I paid for, simply because they had to ask the devs for more keys because they didn't order enough in the first place. Easy to said I don't deal with them anymore, and neither should anyone for that matter.
As the devs said in this thread, why are you blaming them for Humble Bundle's incompetence? They have NO reason to not want you to get the game you paid for. More players means more popular game means more sales. Do you know who benefit from under-stocking inventory? Humble, because they don't want to do lump sum transactions and end up with a potential loss.
But that's the point. Revoking unsold keys is fine but we are talking about keys that were part of purchased bundles. I've redeemed keys from bundles I purchased over 5 years ago. Roboquest is the only game that had this issue (aside from the newly expiring keys for certain games). For regular bundles, the keys sometimes run out but are restocked and sent out without having to contact support for a new key. Once a key has been purchased, it should never be revoked.
I'm not blaming the devs. I'm just asking why they had to revoke older keys that had already been purchased.
I think a large amount of unredeemed keys were revoked and reimbursed, and existing stock of official key sites replaced with fresh ones. HB likely didn't get this memo and instantly had no stock and kept supplying invalid keys, which brings us to the current situation.
Keep in mind that I'm not a dev, so I might have some details wrong but I think this is largely what happened.
Just go to https://support.humblebundle.com/hc/en-us/requests/new and get your new key if yours happens to be invalid!
I'll be curious to hear from others if Humble will supply these new keys. Because when I contacted Humble before they told me it was too long ago and they wouldn't help me. Even though I sent them a link to this discussion...
I also sent an email to the developer with this information and my key, but got no response.
Edit: My new request to Humble got a better response, and they gave me a key. So yay!
I ended up just buying the game here after trying it on game pass - will gift my key to a friend if I ever get it. My only regret is waiting so long on a key before trying this game sooner.
