How is this game, compared to Gunfire Reborn?
I'm considering getting this game. I've played Gunfire Reborn, so that should help me get an idea of what it's like.

I'd say Gunfire is a "deeper" roguelike and Roboquest is a better shooter

Yeah no. Gunfire has a ton to offer and feels great. Theres a reason it has so many great reviews.
I'll have to disagree with that. Gunfire is good, but it isn't THAT good. While Roboquest has less depth, it just plain feels better to play. Game feel is incredibly important for roguelikes since gameplay is always taking the spotlight. Don't get me wrong, Gunfire is still good. It just has a long way to go before it lives up to the positive reviews.

In Roguelikes gameplay takes the spotlight? Rogue was literally designed to have gameplay act secondary to itemization and exploration.

Traditional roguelikes are a completely different story.

Roboquest has much higher quality and manages to provide better areas to fight in and better gunplay in general.
Gunfire has more item variety, more loot, more things to unlock or options to choose from.
For example, when playing Roboquest the same perks are looping and theres not much variety for each class to choose from.

The only big Problem Roboquest has right now, is a lack of a proper Endless Mode and enough loot variety that allows for replayability.
You can play for a few hours and you are done quite fast.
The weapons are nice and theres quite enough to experiment with, but the scope of the game remains too small.
Its more about small fights and not a long and big war.
The enemies are relatively blant, round shaped robots with red details, the levels themselves are too narrow and linear to allow larger battles with more hectic gameplay.
Most of Roboquest feels like small arena combat.

All in all, Roboquest lacks depth in areas and enemies and replayability.
Personally, i would prefer to see more open spaces in Roboquest and branching paths inside the levels without dead ends.
The new Level (Haven City) shows a solid glimpse of a more complex level, sadly they focussed on verticality instead of horizontal gameplay.
On top it desperately needs some sort of New Game+ Mode or Endless Mode that increases loot variety and skills to choose from.

Maybe and this is just another suggestion, having perks that drastically change how weapons are used would provide enough room for experimentation to keep people motivated.
When you can alternate a Bow to shoot rockets instead of Arrows and those rockets can with another perk start bouncing and deal poison damage, then maybe it becomes more replayable because people try to create weird combos.
Borderlands was such a game. Where you could find a Revolver that had an ability that turned its bullets into bouncing grenades exploding in shrapnels or a Minigun shooting Rockets.

In that term, Gunfire Reborn has more variety and thus can hook you for much longer. Roboquest has def. the better production quality right now and thus is more fun to play.
Its just that you dont play for long.
My personal choice was Roboquest, i couldnt stand Gunfire Reborn and its narrow rooms, lacking enemies and other issues.
But if Roboquest got to a point where it would be having as much variety, depth and replayability, it would easily be the superior game.
