It's not planned for now but considering the large amount of feedback on that side we might be looking into it after release (maybe as a side mode).
But we're focusing on getting the game ready first.
Thanks for your input though!
This game would be WAY too chaotic with 4 people. The room sizes are barely designed for a second person at times, nevermind 4 people. Roboquest would need to be fully reworked from the ground up for 4 people.
That would be cool. Maybe an option to scale difficulty in various ways with more players, given that it might be hard to accommodate this increase with changes to the maps themselves.
i guess arena will be good for 4 coop
same as for solo
Unless there's some complexity in the net code that can't handle more than 2 players, letting people play with more with the caveat that its _not how the game was intended to be played_ is probably fine for now.
So then those people should find a game for 4 people instead of asking the game designed for 2 people caters to them.
Seems kind of silly to ask the Devs to completely recreate the game from the ground up to support 2 additional players, doesn't it?
Yes, it absolutely IS what they are asking. 4 players all at the same time with the current level design would be a clustered mess. Some levels/rooms are already crowded with 2 people, nevermind doubling the amount.
It does suck to be in that situation, I certainly agree. But that's the path the Devs chose. Maybe it'll happen down the road. If it does, I sure as hell hope they don't go the lazy route that you're defending here.
No, I'm thinking of "Why on earth would you want 4 people playing at once? It would be unbalanced and cramped mess because this game wasn't created with having anything beyond a second player."
A. I never once said I wouldn't enjoy a properly balanced 4 player mode. This is you making wild assumptions and putting words in my mouth.
B. Even if I had said or implied anything you're trying to pass off here, my opinion on something can be stated AND I can find someone else's opinion silly. The two are not mutual.
My guy, this is a game advertised for up to 2 people. Asking for more player slots IS asking to be catered too. This is ESPECIALLY true after the Devs made a comment nearly 3 and a half years ago that it would be a side gamemode at best. You DID read the whole thread with a very clearly marked Dev post...right?
But while we're at it, let's go ahead and humor the idea of "just double the enemies". This means double the amount of health drops, Exp, Power Cores and Wrenches per level. This would turn the game into super easy mode as you'd end up with double the health and double the perks, along with having TWO extra bodies to boot.
That is, by definition, overpowered and undermining the balance the game is designed around. Kind of weird that you decided THIS is the hill to die on. Stick to not posting, my friend. Clueless takes like this are what seperates the kiddie pool AAAs from the Indies doing things right, and I for one would prefer Roboquest doesn't go that route.
