Update 2: side quests w/chests broken or different?
I just posted the following on the OtherSide Forums - has anyone else experienced this?

Everything was going well until I tried a side quest to recover "ripper hide armor". In the previous build(s) these types of items were in chests and I assumed the same with Update 2. However the persistence state is so good on the levels that none of the chests reset and in this case there is only one chest in a the tiny highlighted section of Upper Erebus (blue highlight on map to indicate quest location).

It's basically just one room with a stone walkway across some shallow water that sometimes has an enemy on a platform to the left and there's just a single chest with a lamp on the bridge. That's pretty much the makeup of this highlighted area.

I looked in the water, checked the walls, etc. to see if you implemented some new hiding spot for quest items like this armor. I even busted the few vases in the area.

I want to keep playing but I fear that this type of quest that involves chests may be busted.

Did you ever solve this? I am having the same problem and cannot seem to locate the Ripper Hide Armor.

Empty the chests and close them. That should reset their state the next time you reload the level.

Thanks Collision, I will try that.

Of course forcing a load of the level is a hack to get around the change in design of quests being given out on the same level and the chests with the quest item not resetting (or the implementation of some other method of solving "the same level" problem).

I'm just crossing my fingers that the "unload level forever" problem is fixed that many here have interpreted as a crash (usually happens on the Under Swamps level).

Unlikely, very few things actually get fixed and every patch has added more bugs than new features AND things they've fixed combined.

The Quest description and Map seem to indicated that I will find the Ripper Hide Armor in the Cold Hall section or Upper Erberus. There is only 1 chest in this section so I will try that one. Please let me know if and where you find it?
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Well a closing a chest after opening / looting is definitely the way to go - thanks again Collision.

However, it's TOO good...turns out that any load of the level, even a quick-load (F9) will restock the contents even while in the middle of a quest. I was able to spam ripper pomes from a single chest by using quick-save / quick-load.

Thatd be pretty abusable if the loading times weren't so long.

Quick-save + Quick-load for me is under 5 seconds...

Are you using an SSD or hard drive?
curtwjen Feb 28, 2019 @ 12:11pm
My C: drive is SSD but I'm playing from my E: drive which is standard, run-of-the-mill.

How long are quick-saves / loads (F5 / F9) taking for you?

Around 5 minutes on purely a hardrive.

My personal experience (on SSD):
- Quick save: not even noticeable. A second or so.
- Load/Quick Load: Feels like around 20 secs to 40 seconds.
But I didn't get far in the game. May change later.

Normal load-time for me is ~15sec (no idea if quickload is any faster), but that's all on exactly 5y old desktop with ssd from that year. Drive itself, cpu and memory plays a role here. 1min+ sounds very painful and indicate some problem (hdd fragmentation, memory problems, swap file issue, etc).

Other people in the forrums have had similar problems. It seems like the game is optimized for SSDs but not harddrives.
