Is this like Arx fatalis?
looks cool

It's also one of the ten lowest scoring games on Metacritic for all of 2018, but it's not even about score. It's about U:A not really being a game but a half-finished tech demo that the Kickstarter devs abandoned somewhere along the way and still decided to ship and sell as a complete game.

Stay well the heck away.

No...NO!!. it's nothing like it.

Please, stay away from this mess. All the reviews are correct.

Don't be fooled like the rest of us.

Also game is not finished, full of bugs and been abandoned by the devs.

Arx Fatalis was some kind of spiritual succesor to the classic Ultima Underworld games ('The Stygian Abyss' and 'Labyrinth of Worlds'). In fact, the goal of Arkane Studios was to create Ultima Underworld 3, that's what they had in mind... but they didn't get the rights to do so, and then they created the game as Arx Fatalis.

This game would be a also a spiritual succesor of Ultima Underworld games, so strictly speaking, it's not based on Arx Fatalis.

Arx Fatalis was well unique.

It covered this trope of a lost civilization like in Thief Dark Project game you had elements like the Old City/New City, Hammerites/Mechanists and well basically the Pagans with Forest levels...

In System Shock-games this theme also sort of played a part, which made it very interesting to play. What will happen next?

All these games IMHO are about exploration lore and gameplay and all of those games were so unique that I think for one they're sort of like a lost treasure attributed to a time of sort of experimentation, style wise and because of this you won't really find anything else like it or them around.

It's like those games, like System Shock, Thief and ultimately Arx Fatalis were almost like a 'fluke' of the times, but I don't regard that negatively seeing as how much I love those games.

I just find it a pity there aren't more like them of this sort of experimental immersive nature. Deus Ex also comes to mind when thinking of this.

That being said, I'm sorry I can't help you with the answer you're looking for seeing I don't have Underworld Ascendant so I can't judge a book by its cover. Personally I didn't get it because of the bad reviews from critics and well players alike.

I may change this in the future.
