This is Thron's party.
Why is there so little opportunity to earn strixes, this honestly needs balancing. I did not waste time anywhere. I should have had enough strixes. Its like the game is not balanced at all and does not want players to explore.
Thorn's party is hard to manage. Too many characters will join you if you are fast enough, and I reckon you were. And, of course, you've accepted them. So your party has a lot of characters in need of strixes which you can get in many random events or buy them at merchant. Unfortunately, you were probably out of luck or haven't choose the correct options to get strixes in some events or avoided too many fights, so you ended up here. I can tell you that Water Menhir will help you if you manage to reach it but so far you have not much choice but too lose some of your characters (which is okay) or to load a previous save. You should look closely into what merchants can offer, not just strixes but also items to cure character's wounds faster.
As for balance, we made a patch after release to significantly improve the number of strixes Thorn's party can obtain.
I don't understand what's wrong. I have beaten the game without any problems. Could you please tell me which battle you are talking about?
The game is not broke, you dont need to finish with Thorn, he and his party can all die and you can still finish the game.
Same goes for the battle system, its not broke it needs to be learned - git gut!
This game is about making hard choices and sacrifices,.. you cannot get a "perfect" run unless you cheat or re-load save game A-Lot
I understand that at this point in time the developers cannot afford the time to redesign combat. But they could either create a slightly easier mode than normal mode without going all the way to brain-dead story mode. Or at least offer an editor or optional setting. Something like decreasing enemy stats by some percentage and/or increasing party stats by some percentage would be enough.
BTW, I made it to chapter 6 before getting tired of being low on strixes and having to focus more than i wanted to on combat. The only battle that I found really hard was the tunnel exit one in chapter 3. And even that wasn't too hard once I played it with just one hero (really two including the guy there already). The thing is, i do not want to play that way, it feels weird that a solo hero is way better than the same hero plus friends.
Actually, all your suggestions requires a significant amount of time. Ability to increase and decrease stats feels like cheating for me but there's actually a slider in options to increase or decrease difficulty level. It is called Reaping Level.
Also, about redesigning combat. We made a demo for Steam Summer Festival, it is called Ash of Gods: Arena. That's a MP game based on Redemption's combat but we have managed to improve it significantly, changing turn order and bringing more balance into it. I'm not sure when we can release a full game but we do learn on our mistakes.
