German gaming site "4players" gave this game a 5% rating ( out of a 100% scale)

Basically they call it a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Banner Saga clone without any creativity or anything positive of its own.
The reviewer even suggests that Stoic should sue the devs for "borrowing" 95% of the Banner Saga concept.

Since 4players is a Metacritic valued site, this must hurt.

This translates to: If you'd ignore all this (his copy critics), it could get a grade in the lower ~3 ("befriedigend" is a 3 in the German school rating from 1-6) section which sounds more like a ~70% rating.

Weil das "befriedigend " auf 4players von etwa 60% zu 72% geht. Und wenn er schreibt"befriedigend im niedrigen Bereich" würde ich eher von so 60%-62% ausgehen.

Und ja der gute Jörg ist recht speziell mit seinen Wertungen.

The tester Jörg is the main guy behind 4 players and he is very known in the German scene, to be kind of special.

For example he had an argument with the guys at Kalypso (a German publisher and developer) and ever since, he "tests" their games, even if it's not his genre and they get the worst ratings out of all rating sites from 4players. I think that tells you quite a bit about him.

Don't get me wrong, he's a quite smart person with great knownledge, but a rational and/or fair rating isn't his strong side. If he likes a game, it'll get an too high rating, if he doesn't it wont get a fair rating.

What you describe is someone who is a dishonest liar, it's weird your country, hadn't already destroyed to ash his fame, there's a serious problem in your country in video game area.

Man, calm down (no offence). It is a single site, not a whole industry.
In general reviews don't affect sales as much as some people think.
As I said earlier giving a working game 5 % rating is weird but at the same time I have to say that I respect this position more than I respect the position of people who give games 95 % on a regular basis.

It seems to me that you don't understand how important is freedom of speech. No one should prevent a man from expressing his opinion (as long as his opinion is in line with the law). And no one should prevent a reviewer from writing a review. It is up to you whether to trust him or not.

The problem isn't freedom of speech, it's that such a pathetic dishonest liar didn't lost all credits in your country, what's wrong there? I wonder. Im' no naive and know the amount of manipulation that apply many people to hide how their are dishonest, but at least they make an effort, it's your problem if you get manipulated and don't realize it. For this guy and from the few comments here about him, it's insane anybody quote anything he writes.

We have a question regarding the game review site 4players.de
Does Metacritic endorse this site behavior? Furthermore, does Metacritic remove fraudulent reviews? http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/ash-of-gods-redemption

As you can see in the included link the review from 4players.de seems suspicious.
Furthermore, it is admitted in the review by reviewer himself that the game does deserve a rating of around 60% however, he dislikes other developers stealing banner saga sales by making similar games and as such the game shall receive a rating of 5%. This raises the possibility of him being one of the fired contributors who still receive royalties for the work on Banner saga. The character assassination whose purpose is to use Metacritic respected reputation to indulge in a personal crusade is self-evident. We would, therefore, like to ask what do you intend to do about it.

We would, therefore, like to ask what Metacritic intends to do about this obvious slander which becomes evident after review of the article by any German speaker.

4 Players have some very Good Reviews. A few times this side have very bad Critics in harsh words.
I love Ash of Gods, and the normal, critical reader would see this in a "4-Players-Context".

We actually had a conversation with Metacritic but it was said that despite the fact they believe that's outrageous, they can't do anything.

Moreover, the guy who wrote a review actually decided to make it even more bitter and place another 0 points as a player. I guess it's personal vendetta.

So the only thing we can really do is to ask you go to Metacritic and score the game with some honest number. Thanks for understanding.
