What is the future of the Idol mode?

First of all, I want to say that this game is fantastic! I love the original Heiankyo Alien, and the remix mode adds so much new depth and strategy while preserving the core of what made the original such a classic.

But also, I see the idol mode is still not released. In a previous message from Mickey, he said that the idol mode was still in development, but it's been a few years and it still hasn't come. Is it still planned for release? Did it fall through completely? I understand if the developers want to move onto new projects, and the game is great as-is, but I do feel slightly misled because the store page did promise a mode that doesn't exist.
