So you go through the whole game solving puzzles, and the final boss is completely different and feels out of place.
He literally shows the way he's going to fly around, very slow during laser beams and open wide for your attacks.
A puzzle game boss should be a tactical challenge
and not a random unfair button mashing mess.
With 2 players, the difficulty is completely absurd: The black phase is much more difficult than the other bosses in the game and the red phase turns absurd. This is only true with 2 players.
With 3 players it is much easier to resuscitate a dead player and scatter the attacks of the boss. It's a piece of cake!
In short, this game is designed specifically to kill couples and cause divorce: The final boss of Trine 4 is a love killer.
I can completely attest to this. Seeing single player walkthroughs, it's as if the player takes way less damage than a co-op team would. The difficulty spike was too high for me and my friend on normal mode so we just resorted to watching the rest of the final cutscenes on youtube. I hope you fix this difficulty spike in a future update because the scaling is too tedious. We're taking twice or thrice the damage on the beams compared to singe player.
I played this a few years ago in co-op and there was a serious difficulty spike once we got to the final boss. The boss is a lot easier in solo play. If it is too frustrating in co-op, I suggest either you or your son finish the boss in single player while the other person watches so at least you can experience it together in some form. Shame they never adjusted this years later.
