Full main game save for Trine 4 available
Due to numerous requests, we've made a Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince and Melody of Mystery save where all main game levels (1-18) are completed for those players who own Melody of Mystery, but do not have their old save file available any more and cannot access the DLC content because of that. The files are in a .zip archive - there are 3 of them, as each save slot in Trine 4 contains a save and its automatic copies, so it's important to copy all 3 files. The save has most of the EXP and Collections collected and all main game Skills should be available. The language is English, but you can change this from the Options menu.

You can find the saves here (includes instructions):

http://cloud.frozenbyte.fi/index.php/s/8O3PXZpxXIhmJnu

The link should be available until 2025, but let us know if it expires or becomes inaccessible before that for some reason.

How to take the saves in use:
  • Go to your Steam library and right click Trine 4. Go to Properties and uncheck the box in front of Go to Properties and uncheck the box in front of "Keep game saves in the Steam Cloud for Trine 4". This will make sure the game doesn't try to re-upload the current empty save data.
  • Next, turn off Steam and make sure it's not running even in background processes. If you try to touch the save data when Steam is running, it can cause a clash.
  • Go to Trine 4's save data folder, which is located in a folder like this (exact location depends on where you have installed Steam):
...Steam\userdata\[your Steam user ID]\690640\remote

  • Copy the save files from the .zip archive and paste them in your save folder. Note: you may need to rename the saves if you have pre-existing saves, for example rename saveslot1 to saveslot0.
  • Restart Steam and start the game

You can find the DLC levels on the in-game map after Act V. There is a symbol of musical notes in the map selection, in the top-right corner, that opens a new map screen with the DLC levels.

Thank You! This works for me!
Shouldn't it have been called "saveslot0" instead though? I had to rename the files to make it work, but seems OK now.

That's odd, it worked at my end when I tested them and has worked with some other saves I've sent to players before. The save slot number shouldn't matter as long as there isn't another save in the same slot, but I guess nothing's impossible. Good to hear you got them working with some extra steps, though!

Thank you for providing the save games so we can play the DLC. I confirm this also works with the gog version, however I had to rename the files to .fbs

I found this confusing...the save file puts you at 8. Moonlit Forests instead of 18. Nightmare Prince or 19. Heroes Dream...which makes it seem like somethings wrong...finally figured out to choose continue then walk on the map to the far right to get to the Heroes Dreams dlc. Lovin the new content, thanks for giving us a way to access it after losing our save file!
