Unfortunately Trine 4 only has native support for X-input controllers, that is Xbox 360, Xbox One and similar controllers. PS4 controllers don't generally work with the game, so if Steam's Big Picture Mode didn't help I can only recommend you to play with a keyboard and mouse instead. :( Sorry for the inconvenience!
There is a known bug with the EXP locations being counted wrong, because the game calculates the locations based on horizontal coordinates. The dev team is aware of the problem and is looking into it. The missing EXP is very likely in the previous or the next checkpoint instead, so please check both carefully and you should be able to find them.
My friends and I tried to play multiplayer but there was a lot of rubberbanding and lag. The three of us each tried hosting but the issue still persisted. Please help.
OS: Windows 10 64-bit
Processor: Intel Core i7-3520M
RAM - 8 GB
GPU - Intel HD Graphics 4000
I installed the most recent GPU driver version. I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game. I've tried switching the GPU settings for the game to high performance, and running the game as an admin. I'm out of ideas.
Sorry to hear that! Does this only happen in online multiplayer? Also have you tried joining any random games to see if the same thing happens there too?
First, check that you and your friends have all updates installed. We released a patch earlier this year that fixed some netsync problems, so if there are any updates pending, install them first.
You can also test changing the game's settings from the Options menu, for example lower the graphics settings and resolution, or run the game in Windowed mode to check if that improves performance at all. It's a long shot, but worth testing. If it doesn't help at all then the issue is very likely with the online connection.
We've received some reports about rubberbanding/lag happening in multiplayer but unfortunately haven't been able to reliably reproduce it at our end, despite extensive testing. In Trine 4, the main online gameplay happens with a direct connection between players, using peer-to-peer connections, so laggy behaviour is usually caused by network issues at the player's end (especially the host's). There are a couple of things you can try to improve this.
Add to exceptions
Add Trine 4 and Steam to your security program's exceptions (antivirus, firewall, etc.) to make sure it's not interfering with the game's online access.
Open correct ports
This refers to the UDP ports in your router. Trine 4 uses ports from 27300 to 27315. By default they should be open in most routers, but this varies a lot between Internet service providers and countries. Check also your other router settings. Some routers have their own built-in firewall, so check that the settings aren't too strict.
Try a wired connection
If you're using a wireless connection, test the game with a wired connection instead if possible.
I recommend you and your friends all do these, since the problem can be at your end or it can be at your friends' end. Sorry for the inconvenience, let me know how it goes!
Unfortunately it looks like your GPU is below the game's minimum requirements, so the freezing is very likely caused by that. Because of this we can't promise the game will actually run on your PC at all.
If you still want to try something, you can edit the game's visual settings manually and set them on low settings to see if the game can run then. To do this, go to %appdata%/Trine4 and open options.txt in a text editor. Make sure the game is not running when you do this. Options.txt contains the game's settings, same as the Options menu. For example, set the resolution lower by editing these lines (just match the width and height with your desired resolution):
setOption(rendererModule, "ScreenWidth", 1600)
setOption(rendererModule, "ScreenHeight", 900)
Running the game in Windowed mode instead of fullscreen can also help. You can do this by editing these lines and setting them to 'true':
setOption(rendererModule, "WindowedMode", true)
setOption(rendererModule, "WindowTitleBar", true)
I also recommend turning off Vsync and setting a FPS cap to see if that helps:
setOption(rendererModule, "VSyncEnabled", false)
setOption(rendererModule, "FpsCap", 0)
Remember to save after doing any changes. If changing these settings doesn't help either, I can unfortunately only recommend you to check if you're still eligible for a refund via Steam. Sorry for the inconvenience!
We did find a wonky alternative solution using diagonal beams, though. Will post screenshot if we do it again. Only works in multiplayer.
Edit: here's the screenshot.

2nd edit: the “official” solution ended up working in multiplayer.
Windows local multiplayer.

Completely stuck :(
Same problem in LAN game with 2 friends. There is no switch on top and lacking of second wheel.

Windows 10 x64.2 PC and 1 notebook. No matter who is host in game.
Sorry to hear that, but I'm glad to hear you managed to find an alternative way to progress. I've forwarded the bug report.
