Purpose to collectibles?

I am loving this game (just started a second playthrough on Opressive difficulty) but I am wondering if there is any point in collecting the 'collectibles', or if they are just there for acheivement hunters. I originally expected them to contain narrative elements, or unlock extras... I really don't mind if they are pointless, but I won't waste my time hunting for them if they are pointless. Has anyone found them all? Was it worth it?

Glad to hear you are liking the game. The collectables are there for just for fun and for the sense of achievement. There are 20 in total and probably the easiest ones to miss are in Act 2 Hangar and very final area of the game since the rooms are large.

I think we made some of the collectibles to showcase the ethnicity of the team tho right? At least I think we did. haha. Except for the little casette thingies.
