Roboholic participates in the Steam festival - Dinosaurs vs Robots, so we have prepared a new demo! What's new?

1. New diverse levels
2. Physics and overall game optimization
3. More content added - guns/abilities, new interesting perks
4. Progression after death
5. Levels map with branches

To support the project, please fill out the form, it opens in the browser after you close the game.
This will greatly help us, to further improve the game!

Some suggestions after playing demo

1) Don't ask players to look at their steps if they don't see their foots: First-person view is a bad idea if you want players step on the right place. Some games enhance jumping mechanics by introducing a climbing ability when nearing the edge, thus allowing for smoother transitions and make jumping less punish. ==> My suggestion: If you can't change the game to Third-person view, then try enhance the jumping mechanics. 2) Less punishment in shooting: When you play a shooting game without aiming feature,...

The Roboholic team is preparing for the next playtest

Our team is actively working on improving the new demo based on player feedback from the last playtest and is preparing for the next one, which is a month away.

We've added more verticality to the terrain in levels and improved the environment/enemies:

Once upon a time on Earth, an inexplicable epidemic erupted — the cocoa fungus. The leading chocolate bar manufacturer, "CHOCO," found this mysterious virus alarming and deployed all its resources in search of a cure. Unfortunately, the search was in vain. So, "CHOCO" resolved to move the cocoa plantations and factories to the planet Folly.

Everything was proceeding well: cocoa trees were thriving on the new planet, chocolate bars were being produced, and sent to all chocolate lovers. Until one horrific day, all the robots went berserk.

New demo is more fast-paced!

Compared to the previous demo, it has become much more brutal) In general, it`s like a tribute to some old-school shooters like Quake, Doom, it also reminds me Dusk. I liked the new levels, slightly different from other rougelike shooters, less repetitive. Cool combo of asteroids and a falling satellite with a black hole ability and a hell lot of destruction!! On the downside, the feedback from shooting is still not always correct, sometimes enemies are dumb AF and in some arenas the level boundary does ...

So... demo thoughts

There were some mechanics that seemed somewhat unique to the rogue-lite FPS subgenre (like the destructible environments), but there was a LOT of jank in the demo. Multiple times, I ended up on un-finishable levels. The portals wouldn't activate, but there were no enemies left, etc. I imagine those bugs will be fixed, but down the road, what will really set this apart from more polished similar games, like Roboquest?...
