VEGAS Pro 15 Edit Steam Edition

Audio and video not in sync when imported to Vegas (SOLVED)
Hey,
I am struggling with an issue that started randomly two days ago.

I use plays.tv to record gameplay and use Vegas 15 Pro to edit my plays. Ever since two days ago when I import the .mp4 files into Vegas the imported audio is not in sync with the video. When I replay the raw .mp4 files the audio and video are in perfect sync.

What can I do to fix this? If you need additional details, please ask and I will provide!

Thank you in advance!

This is now solved.

There is a new video decoder called so4compoundplug.dll. You can check if your video is decoded using this by importing a video in the timeline and right click the video -> select properties. On the general tab look under "Plug-in" and it should say: so4compoundplug.dll.

The actual fix is:

On the top menu -> go to options and while holding SHIFT -> Preferences
This opens the preferences window with some extra tabs.

Go to Internal tab.

At the bottom of the window you see "Show only prefs containing:"

Type in "so4" without the quotes.

Modify Enable So4 Compound Reader for AVC/M2TC to FALSE (default is true).

Restart Vegas Pro 15.0 and now importing videos should have audio and video in perfect sync.

This might mess up decoding iPhone videos and some other things, so keep this setting in mind as a future update should fix the issue.
Thank you, good sire! :OkaySir::Gentlemen:

Guys, if you're using Vegas 18 you have to do it a little bit different.
You have to press Shift BEFORE you click on "Options".
Under "Preferences" you will see "Internal".

But thanks for your help.
Check and my video have the "so4compoundplug.dll" so i tried your Fix

But it just din't work for me. Captured with Shadowplay. Some clips with Shadowplay are out of sync in the last weeks but this clip not, with you play it in Media player Classic for example the audio Sync is perfect.

Is import in Vegas and is Out of Sync, if i try to sync it it goes out of sync in less than a minute so have not one, at least 2 sync problems in the same clip.

I don't know what to do with this man.

EDIT: Saw another fix, works for me in at least the 3 clips i used.
Just rename the .mp4 extension of the file to .dif and then in Vegas you will have the audio and video in armony with no Sync.

Unfortunately this doesn't work in Vegas 18 in my case. I had to resort to using older Vegas (15) along with this solution.

Jamiboy's fix works for Vegas 17 as well, just followed it and it's working perfectly, thanks a lot!
does not work on 17 in 2020, "enable so4 compound reader for AVC/M2TC" does not show up. also tried disabling legacy AVC and HEVC decoding. nothing works, been trying allllll morning. program has literally become unsuable. should've learned my lesson 10 years ago. trash software

Same on 14. All the solutions I can find online are for 15 and onward. The "enable so4 compound reader for AVC/M2TC" option does not exist on Sony Vegas Pro 14.

How do you rename the extension?

EDIT: People seem to still rely on this post on never versions of Vegas and reporting this doesn't work on later versions. I do not have later version so I cannot test it myself. If the steps stated below doesn't work then I suggest going on official forums looking for answers. Hope you get things rolling.

Worked perfectly in VEGAS Pro 16 as well. Thanks so much for the help, I was practically ripping my hair out. Next time you visit South Carolina, beer or weed is on me, your choice! XD <3
