sandbox vs story
OK, as far as I've got it from the reviews, the game seems to be story focused at the beginning and then to switch to sandbox at a certain point. Though I understand people coming from Warband missing the sandbox mode from the very start, it would be a shame if different expectations would ruin the game appeal, apart from the bugs which will hopefully be fixed soon.
A question to those who have come so far: How much gameplay time do you need to activate the sandbox mode? A final question to the devs, as I belong to those who prefer playing sandbox, would it be possible and feasible to add an option to skip the story mod? Thanks

its not about expectation, the storyline is just simply make you do mission like hunting sending message and killing bandit. Will make you feel boring like hell, trust me I try again yesterday to adapt this game but it just don't work

it is unstability now because of many bugs and update frequently.but it really a good game,it need time for fixing.you dont need to play totally with your heart right now, just seeing it,enjoy the sightseeing(not the texture, only the style of Han Dynasty).after updating it and becoming stability, you can enjoy it totally!

I bought this mainly for the sweet han dynasty and Xiongnu confederation.

hmm.... I guess I'll wait for them patching the game then, unfortunately I haven't found much on youtube yet, only a short gameplay video, it lasted about 12 minuntes but the player didn't seem to know what he did so he just stopped early. But watching that video the game does not seem so bad.

There is a main storyline you have to go through. You started as a nobody enlisted in the army. And once you finished the main storyline about defending your country and defeating the Hun and at the same time once you go up through the ranks to be somone high enough to make it on your own , you are mostly good to start your sandbox mode. But there is some thing different than the native. Even after you finish your business with your lord , you are still given a troop of Han soldiers according to your military rank. You are offically recoginzed a military commander appointed by the court and the given troops will not consume your ration.
Men must serve the glooorius Han empire, don't you understand you filthy peasant?
When the nation calls, you have to take up your armes and defend your country against the bloody nomads, no sandbox for yuo, cowards will be excuted, understand, soldier?

ok thanks, but I'm afraid the glorious Han empire isn't going to find a lot of 'filthy pesants' to buy their game, at least according to the reviews :-)

It seems that Chinese players are not satisfied with this game.Basically because of it's hard-core gameplay.

Actually, there is a sandbox mode. You can chose either as you wish. And in story mode, you could also avoid arbitrary recruitment and skip the first chapter in the army with a payment of 2000 in which you could experience some basic tutorial and some special mission oringined in this game. The problem is that the story mode is so long that may makes you boring ,and you got some restriction in this game .Devs wants to show the real condition in ancient han dynasty .You can make money in the first scene through hunting or some other works to pay the 2000.
By the way,as you can see,Chinese players hate this game, because it's more like an uncomplished M&B mod and not for free.So I don't recomend this version if you are not a fan of M&B or Chinese culture.

The devs promised that there will be continue updates which may break savedata. So you'd better wait or just enjoy other games. The devs are a group of M&B fans. They are not professional programmers,so they have been working on this for about 8 years and their work is still like half-baked.Just can't figure out complishment of this game or M&B 2,which will come out earlier.XD

OK, thanks for the clarification. I'm a veteran Warband player, and actually I'm waiting for TW to finish Bannerlord, but in the meantime I was interested in this one, but based on what I've read and seen, I'll wait a while I think.

Ran a test with cheat engine

The address "674EA570" is contribution points. Changing the value shows up on the contribution report page. The updated contribution counts for a promotion.

It seems that getting a promotion drops contribution points back to the requirement for that promotion.

The mount and blade engine also includes cheats, one of them is for money. I didn't test this though, but I figure you could use that to pay the 2000 zhu.

edit: Seems the 2000 zhu option didn't work
