What items work better with what units?
i got the game on discord and im trying to figure out what items work better with what units

Ring of command works best with archers for the increased % of hits.

While Soldiers work best with the warhorn to replace losses against archers and brute archers. While on pikemen I don't find it neccesary.

While both warhammer and bomb are good on soldiers and pikemen. While on archers you risk losing them in melee combat if you miss

Oh this is a fun topic, I'll break down some of the reasons why some items in some tier order of best suited for each unit

Keep in mind you get 2 of each item from 8 islands if you successfully defend them.

Archers:
  1. Ring of Command is the best item for them because it nearly doubles your potential output dps, increases crowd-control with arrow stun, and synergies with Volley skill by adding more arrows to the rain down.
  2. Bomb is a fine choice since you are already a good distance from the impact zone but it's limited uses just don't quite compare to the Ring
  3. Warhorn has a fun trick where you can save a unit by calling reinforcements from a distant house and then immediately sending them to replenish but your archers shouldn't be in danger losing troops ever for this item to be necessary
  4. War-Hammer while the stun can save your units from incoming threats this item is for units that are up close and personal with the enemies

Infantry:
  1. Ring of Command is wonderful for them because they are always in the fray so the more bodies to block and attack add to the durability of unit. It's best to only put your second ring on one of your infantry (generally meta has 1-2 infantry in your set of 4)
  2. War-Hammer is good for large groups, brutes,or to quickly solve a threat and move to defend another spot. I enjoy having one on my second infantry because of how versatile and mobile this unit is.
  3. Warhorn is the all round decent item on infantry cause they are always the ones to lose a few units in combat but can't always afford to spend time replenishing. It gives 3 more net units than ring when fully upgraded.
  4. Bomb does A LOT of damage and can give infantry range but one miss-click too close to your unit will have devastating effects

Pikemen:
  1. Warhorn for those cases when the line breaks you can save the entire unit or replace stragglers that were lost. And you can solo islands with this item
  2. Bomb allows you to deal with threats from afar while still planting yourself in a defensive position. Is a method to deal with archers
  3. War-Hammer won't break your line when activated and is useful for dealing with overwhelming numbers
  4. Ring of Command isn't necessary cause 8 pikemen are enough to defend small choke points. It's better to give your two rings to the other units

It all comes down to playstyle.

Alot of players, including me, like the Ring of Command on their archers. Fully upgraded it's OP as heck. I play archers very aggressively. They are always firing on boats from the edge of the shore. As soon as the mobs land, archers behind the pikes/infantry for the stun and push back. With 16 archers firing from one square away, they often send mobs into the water with their stun/knockback.

I used to put Ring of Command on my pikes. I hate sending them to replenish cause once you turtle up or hold a chokepoint, it seems you end up there for several waves of mobs. This is especially true on the final island. I now use War Horn fully upgraded for my pike. It's much handier than the Ring.

Infantry it's always either hammer or horn. I prefer hammer but the war horn works fine.

I never use the bomb. It's just a matter of playstyle. I can't say the bomb is bad or good. I wouldn't know. The items I use work just fine so I see no need to even try the bomb.

Edit: bear in mind that any units with the Ring of Command will take twice as long to replenish. This is the main reason I only put the Rings on archers.

Command ring: Good on all. Extra pikes make pikement that much harder to shift. Extra arrows make damage go up. Extra swordmen last that much longer. Idd say
1-Pikemen. 2-Archers. 3-Swordmen.

Hammer: My fave upgrade: Good on all. Knock whole squads of even giants and redshields into the water, even archers can pull this off with a beach ambush before running away, time it well!
1/2-Pikement and Swordmen. 3-Archers.

Reenforcements: Swordmen get worn down over combat so for them this is the most routinely useful. Pikemen however are important and this lets you refresh them a bit with no downtime. Archers rarely take many casualties and this fixes them when they do.
1-Swordmen. 2-Pikemen. 3-Archers.

Bomb: Rather unreliable, flat out worse then hammer in my mind. Any unit can use to disrupt enemies a bit and swordmen tend to move the most.
1-Swordmen. 2/3-Pikemen and Archers.

If you get an early bomb, dont put it on pikemen if you see another upgrade soon, you'dd rather wait a bit and get anything else for your pike unit than waste the slot on bomb.
If you get early command ring, hold onto it for your pikemen unit. Dont upgrade it till you finish get elite.
You can put hammer on anything immediately, one of the best upgrades for those flat lategame islands.
If you get early reenforcements put it on your swordmen.
If you get an early-second command ring, try to have one unit of Command ring Sword and Pikemen each, training one of your backups is worth it for this.

I've stopped using archers, in my opinion even tho I put Archers as "gaining the second most" from Command ring i'dd still rather put it on Swordmen then Archers, simply because even though the archers "gain more" the unit is still so much crap that the swordmen will always be better.

Me personally prefer ring of command on my archer as increased damage output. The warhammer on my pike, as super useful for clearing large hords by sending them to the sea. My 2 Infrantry will either be another ring of command or war horn. Bomb is useless as there might be too much collateral damage to nearby units.
