Please help me understand Fatigue
Just had a great run going, 5/5 commanders, 3 with veterans or elite upgrades etc. Didn't lose anyone after like 15-20 Islands. Then after I finish an island, I save my gold since I didn't have enough for any upgrades and go to "Next Turn" and it says "1/5 Commanders available".

Now I see the fatigue bar above each commanders name. But there didn't seem like a way to replenish it with gold. I figured they just have to rest a turn, so I only have 1 commander for the next battle (They will surely die).

I click Next Turn and then I instantly lost the game.
What did I do wrong?

And now from what I gather, I need to analyze each island and only take so many commanders and not all of them to allow some to rest?
This is a mechanic that just seems like they overlooked in explanation.

Just to add, I know when you click Next Turn the map line moves. I usually play and grab Islands up and down. Is the problem maybe I had that I didn't advance far enough right and got swallowed up by this advancement?

On higher difficulties you need to be able to advance 2 or even 3 islands every turn to not get run over by the Viking Tide.

not true at all. at every difficulty it is possible to get to the last island even if you only stick to one island at a time per turn.

but yeah you need to stay ahead of the viking frontier, the wavey thing that comes in from the left.

Thanks guys, kind of figured that out on my 3rd play through. I guess you simply don't have to capture every island as long as you keep moving forward.
