Performance issues in the game usually come from the systems running under the hood and not the graphics. A lot of pathfinding, job management, and item location processes are constantly working in the background. These get more demanding as your town population grows. Bigger maps will also demand more from your computer.
I apologize for these performance issues. This new patch should speed up things and reduce the number of spikes, but I'll continue to work on performance as I go. Thanks for your patience.
