Yeah, that is what I am wondering if it would be possible. Since waiting on random ancients or finding them, usually doesn't give you enough in the long run.
Now, that said, I will be adding some additional ways to find Ancients outside uncovering their underground tombs. Namely, you'll meet more of them wandering the overworld. This won't be super common--again, I want them to feel rare and special--but will be frequent enough to introduce some new, interesting characters.
It could possibly solve ravens issue of being weak early game but still steps off the path you have planned for them . Guess we’ll have to see where the game goes once the next update comes out :)
Oh ok! Then we are on the same page. I have a bunch of new summons planned, several of which are defenders. :)
That sounds great, yeah, the lack of Ancients, makes each one high value.
Another problem is that many of the ones who join you, are higher level, and when you change their job, they don't go down in level, so they will have level 1 stats but be level 4 and up. Many of them also has level 1 stats when they join, while being level 4-6.
So they end up a lot weaker than your starting ancients. Like I normally start with 1 Thaumaturge and Summoner, when they are level 2, they have between 146-149hp. Where I had a Summoner level 4 join me, with 73hp, got her up to level 5, and she has 146hp, equal to that of the level 2 Summoner, but way less than the level 3 Thaumaturge with 228. So that kind of devalues the ancients that join you from events.
Oh yeah that would help a lot.
Like being able to summon a Guardian Type, similar to the Mannequins / Mandragoras (From Carrion Woods MA in Dominions 4 and 5).
Could also have it so they don't die of age, or X amount of time, and you can only have a certain limit of them (Like 1-2 per Ancient to a maximum of 15 (Feels like a good number)). They can't use Void Magic, so have to give them Bows/Crossbows for Range, and melee weapons for melee.
While on the subject of Dominions/CoE style summons, (potentially) massed and individually weak zombie/skeleton swarms that are short lived (perhaps a day or two before they fall apart on their own) seem like they would be right up the Ancients' alley in a very literal sense, what with them being magical skellingtons a la MA Ermor. It'd be even more Ermor-y if an old/rusted equipment tier was available.
