Question about combat/threat levels
Ive wanted to give myself a little challenge by settling in the most dangerous area possible, but i have trouble finding such a place.

What determines how many hostile parties you get to visit your settlement?

Ive tried settling in places with a double ferocious level, but with varying success. Sometimes i get 3-4 different parties to show up (still not enough, lol), most of the time i get just 1 or 2 though. And even if i get 3-4 different parties, their attacks are quite infrequent nad low on numbers, posing not much of a threat.

Is there something ive missed? do i need to settle in a place with lots of other settlements nearby? Or some sort of rng that i cant influence?

Dwarf Fortress had the wealth mechanic, the wealthier you became, more and bigger threats showed up. Is something similar planned?

Currently more dangerous events are injected into the settlement event system based on the ferocity of the tile you settle, how close you are to other hostile towns, the highest settler level you have, and how many seasons you are into the game. To get the most dangerous events you'll want to settle beside another town in a tile that is ferocious.

Now, I should say that I'm currently revamping the events for combat and hostile tiles to be much more interesting and varied. Right now, most of the events are along the lines of, hey, you're getting attacked by a small group of bandits. Over the next two weeks, I'll be uploading those changes.
