Widescreen Fix

Just Cause is only able to run in 4:3 mode without modification. To allow any custom resolution, unzip this[www.datafilehost.com] file in the target game folder, where JustCause.exe resides and edit the resolution.ini file to set your preferred resolution. All game elements work in wide-screen, though cut-scenes, the in-game PDA, and some other elements may appear stretched.

Just do this:

After game is installed select it in your library.
Right click on it. And select Properties.
Press "Set launch options..." button.
In textbox write: /width=1920 /height=1080
And press ok.
Play the game.

Also possible commands:
/autostart - Skip frontend
/noprelodo - Show game before the landscape has finished lodding
/nolandscape - Turn off landscape updates
/windowed - Windowed mode
/fullscreen - Fullscreen mode

/width=1600 /height=900

Obviously, you can change it to 1920x1080 if you wish.

Incidentally, nvidia 3dvision works just fine (a few lighting problems; nothing serious) with this mod, despite the game not being officially supported (it came out before 3dvision was made). Looks great!

Edit: Since I made this post, Helix came out with a stereo 3D mod to fix shadows and lighting, so be sure to check it out if you have a stereo setup.

@WheatleyOS, you did it wrong. The file on Mega still is a .zip file (ureschanger2.zip 32.2KB), the file from datafilehost is the same file.

To circumvent Mega's new download manager "Cloud Sync" or whatever, click 'Download through your browser'

If you got it from datafilehost, you still did it wrong.
There are four replies in this thread, the most recent from over 2 years ago, talking about NOT using the download manager to get the file.

What I did is I reset everything to the normal settings in the graphics. Clicking took me off the fullscreen, so use the arrow keys and "enter" to do this

I couldn't get this to work with sweetfx but the commandline option from another thread here works fine with it.

I should have read this thread fully before trying to combine sweetfx with ureschanger.

Guess it doesn't work in all games. Unzipped to install dir, changed resolution.ini from 1280x1024 to 1360x768 - nothing. Moved resolution.ini and d3d9.dll out of newly created folder up one into where the rest of .dll files are - and still a no-go.

I can confirm that the final solution is to research "Just Cause" in the PCGamingWiki site, in the search bar at the top. You'll land on the Just Cause page, and on the "Video Settings" section, you'll find a link to the WideScreen Fix that worked for me.

NecroPost: I can also confirm that the various fixes suggested here still work for me running this game in Proton in 2021. Just in case anyone besides me tries to play this game and goes looking for the information found here…
