Another Eidos game that doesnt work offline Windows 8
thats 3 o 4 games ive tried getting to work without internet from Eidos. their DRM annoys the hell out of me. Hitman codename 47, Hitman 2 , Just cause and a few Ubisoft games. When you go offline in Windows 8, this process starts in task manager :> Windows host process (Rundll32) (32bit). The actual game process starts also, but doesnt launch. however as soon as you turn the internet on again it starts and the Windows host process (Rundll32) (32bit) in the task manager disappears.

However other Eidos /Square games like final fantasy 7,8, tomb raider etc, doesnt seem to have this problem.

So im not sure how to get around it offline. If you have any suggestions, would be great. Sometimes im offline for 6 months.

EDIT:> ive fixed this issue now . You have to go into sysWOW64 and delete the dl extension from gameux.dll. delete the extension and you can play offline. It was annoying and it took me ages to find out a fix, but i fixed it.

No steam game can be played offline. I don't understand your problem at all due to poor grammar. Perhaps if you fix your mispellings a tad bit, and restate your question, I may be able to help.

There isnt a single game i cant play in offline mode, but all the eidos ones for whatever reason werent working offline. But ive fixed it now.

And yes ALL games should be able to be played offline in offline mode, unless its an online only game. Thats what Offline Mode is for. If STEAM didnt have this option i wouldnt even use it. But it does have this option, which im happy that it does, so people like me(theres more out there than you think) can play in offline mode when they have no internet.

I was in a hurry, when i posted it. Basically, when you are offline mode with no internet access, a process starts called Windows host process (Rundll32) (32bit) starts, if you launch an eidos game and firaxis (civilization etc) and a few others, if you try and run the game in offline mode with no internet.

However this process no longer starts once you delete the dl extension from gameux.dl in the sysWOW64 folder. So ive fixed it. It was a pain in the arse trying to find the fix as it was nowhere. But i found it eventually in a completely RANDOM website.

Also having an offline mode option is good anyway. So if something screws up with the internet or the servers go down or whatever, you can still play the game. Something i was hoping Diablo 3 was going to have, BUT.....they never put an offline mode option into the PC version. pretty silly. So i never bought Diablo 3 and bought Torchlight 2 and Titans Quest instead from STEAM as they can be played without internet connections.
