And combined armor and crafting IS better than the "standard" gear offered.
Clearly certain aspects of the game like crafting, quest management (what items have I already cashed in for fulfillment) and most of all squad management (making your hirelings better/equiping them and not only meat bags but support) as well as plenty other things need more polishing.
LEATHER - gambeson, leather armor, leather cuirass, reinforced leather armor
MAIL - low quality mail, chainmail, hauberk
PLATE - demi-cuirass, plackart, plackart with leather cuirass, iron cuirass, fauld
for my money the best combo is gambeson+fauld, best body armor(32) with 98% cover,
respectable 45% limb cover and ZERO penalties to stats (when crafting is lvl 25).
will experiment with helmets later.
This explains why I didn't think the above was possible, but now makes me wonder why the crafted form can't be further modified.
