How i became king of England and how you could too
I'm going to give you some tips on probably the hardest route in game and that is usurping the english throne.

Here are the piety checks for King route. Some information has already been shared by others. Spoilers below.

Get Sword of Justice: Virtue ≥ 70

Be able to torture rebel: Virtue must < 70

To do this, equip two -30 virtue trinkets (virtue = 40), then do the quest where you torture. After doing this quest, go to Lindisfarne and buy indulgences until you get 100 virtue. Keep the two -30 virtue trinkets equipped.

In London chapter, talk to Chippenham and agree to his proposal (-50 virtue). Then, hire all the militiamen. Only after you have hired all the militiamen do you go to Greenwich and talk to Alice.

Avoid automatically rejecting Alyssa’s Proposal: Virtue < 85 + 50(you lied about Eva’s estate to the Sergeant) - 50(You killed De Roche).

If you disobey orders: do not help Sergeant and do not kill De Roche, you can accept Alyssa’s proposal with 100 virtue.

Based on your decisions up to that point, you can gain virtue after you agree to usurp power.

Volunteer to save the Prince: +10 virtue

Give medicines to heal Bartholomew: +10 virtue

Spare the peasants around Eva’s estate: +10 virtue

Buy stuff at Eva’s market to help people make a living: +10 virtue

Spare De Roche: +10 virtue

Give all the medicines to Cecilia to help your fellow soldiers: +10 virtue

Get the sword of Justice: +10 virtue.

Lastly,

Convince Earl of your Loyalty: Virtue ≥ 70

Obtain Peasant Loyalty: Virtue ≥ 90

These are all thanks to ServusDominus, he wrote this detailed and very much helpful information on some other discussion topic.

Below i'm giving my own insights, and there are also spoilers so read at your own risk

I was doing it on HWR difficulty, so the two trinkets that are must have:
- Blood chalice
- sacrifical dagger
They both give -30 virtue, you dont need to equip them straight away - just store them in your inventory for later.
Remember to do all the +10 virtue checks mentioned above as such they will help you later, trust me.
I also got +10 virtue for rushing first to storm the walls where Bartolomew got injured so do that also.
I totally ignored the sergeant quest, where he asks you to make some scabbards? (i forgot what it was exactly) and boots, just don't talk to him at all and he won't give you quest. In case getting it and your refusal you got -30 soldier opinion, -10 earl opinion and lose -10 virtue (probably), i tried it and it locked me out of english campaign due to requirement of having at least 80 earl opinion.
Once in england just do your stuff, before torturing the prisoner go retrieve the sword of justice note that you need 70 or higher virtue for monk to give it to you.
Later lower your virtue to torture the prisoner and then equip two -30 virtue trinkets and purchase indulgence from monks till you have 100 virtue.
You probably need 100 relationship with Alyssa for her to help you later
In london campaign go first to the Duncan and accept his proposal, it'll give you -50 virtue.
Alyssa can also help you with recruiting militia so provide her with 3 of your companions ASAP.
Before i stormed duncan castle i took of one of my -30 virtue trinket.
After capturing castle there is a virtue check with earl at least 70 virtue to pass.
at this point you can take off your second -30 virtue trinket.
Accumulate at least 100 militia to usurp power, i did it with less than 200.
Try to get 100 virtue and 100 prestige (i had 120) as it will help with other skill checks and grant you bonus money or troops.
Try to get as much money as possible, when besieging windsor DIY becasue you get various loot, don't waste militia.
And voila you usurped a throne.
Later on it's easy, just finish off the rebels and you got it!

I became King without messing with any virtue trinkets. Not my favorite run though, as I've said in other threads I hate that becoming King requires an otherwise virtuous character to torture Alyssa's prisoner. There should be an alternate path for virtuous characters, maybe because they see Northampton and the Prince as too manipulative and willing to resort to any means necessary to gain the throne, including assassination.
Pro tip for anyone who wants to do this with low virtue:
earn at least 15k gold by the time you get to london and get that extra 10k from the trader's guild so you can afford all of the options on your own.
Thanks for the title spoiler you moron. ♥♥♥♥ you.
