How to avoid 24 ending?
I talked to Dauphin in prison, saved the bandit's brother, chose a favor as a reward, but no matter what else I do I always get ending 24, when you end up in prison and escape into the mountains. What i have done wrong?

Apparently this is a bug. Previously, this path led to continuation, but now I've checked - to prison under any circumstances.
Same issue here. Replaying to try to figure out what I need to do differently. I don't know what actions I take effect the endings.

I didn't save the bandit's brother.

During the escape sequence I took too long in the first fight and faced reinforcements. Killed them all, then, when faced with the choice of charging upstairs for the element of surprise or searching, I searched. Went up and fought the remaining dudes and got 24.

I know there is that part with the assassin and De Roche telling you to keep one alive, but even if you take him alive he just kills himself. The only new piece of info you get is that he wants a freedom for brittany. Don't think this affects anything.

Still on my second playthrough trying to figure it out.
I'm at the part where you fight the forces of Geoffroy d'Harcourt, and when I finish that I get the text:
"Desperately resisting, Geoffroy dHarcourt gets killed in battle, and so you fail to take him alive."

I might have skipped over some important text, but I wasn't aware the goal was to keep him alive. Besides, I didn't see any enemies named Geoffroy, but I might go back and re-do the sequence to see if any of the enemies are named.

Basically I'm trying to figure out if the point of this part of the game is to save all the rebels and get them as allies or something.

New to the game. How do you check that? Is there a file somewhere that defines this or something?
Apparently you need to have surviving teammates when you defeat them in the room with Roche . The default militiamen that fight with you are too weak and die very quick leaving you alone. Even if you win, you are still "surrounded" at the end, leading to ending 24 (similar to that one ending in England route)

I tried hiring the ones the village chief/mayor suggested before you reach rouen, leveled them enough to survive the fight, they lived and we didn't get overwhelmed.

After saving the bandits, you have to go to them during the Paris riots and pay the 5000 fee for them to help you. Did you do that?

No, I did not. Originally, I never saved the bandits. I also took my time in the battle sequences because I didn't really care about the NPCs and just wanted to keep my stamina and fatigue up, haha. So that's probably why I got ending 24. Thanks Shuvelle!
I didn't have enough money for the bandits, so I decided to just go for it and see if not letting all the soldiers die was enough. I beat them without losing anyone, though I did cycle out one of my own men and bring out by second one. So unless there is a bug / oversight where not having one of De Roche's men next to you leads to you losing and going to prison, then it is likely a requirement to get help from the bandits ( or another party)

i went to the bandit camp, but i didn't have that option. All i could to do are buy items or hire new people.
I went to the bandit camp as well and was able to buy weapons and armor and hire people but couldn't get an option for their help or talk to anyone.

I think the order is this
Go inside Paris>Go back outside>Talk to De Roche about Bandits and their help>Go back inside Paris>Option should pop up assuming you chose the favor instead of the money earlier.

In the earlier chapter after you talk to the Dauphin in prison, there is an event to talk to someone else in prison. Agree to talk to him, go to tavern, go to forest and choose favor as a reward. Then when you come back to the Paris riots, enter Paris, meet the King of Navarre, go back to De Roche and tell him about the bandits, go back to Paris and talk to the bandits in the forest and pay 5k for their services then continue the story.

There is also a chance to rescue the city guards if you did not get the favor from the bandits but I don't remember how to trigger the rescue city guards event.

They aren't mutually exclusive you can do both.
