Greetings! I have already raised the issue of squad management! In its current form it is VERY expensive and ineffective! Below is a link to my post. The developer promised that the squad will be improved in subsequent updates. I didn't take a troop on my last run to England and saved a lot of money! Let's see what new the developer can offer. From my own experience, it is advisable to take warriors with shields (since the detachment attracts a fair share of the enemy’s attention and the shields crush the lives of the fighters). You shouldn't take ruined knights - they are a quarter more expensive to upgrade. If money allows, we need to repair, treat, and then raise the level. I had a glitch when, without repair, when raising the level, the mercenary seemed to change his shield, but entered the battle with the mark “broken”!

some other extra suggestions:
- first three upgrades should be free and reduction of the overall upgrading prices to something realistic (10% of current prices). That is to make realistic that you pay a bit for their improvement but the rest are payed by themselves and by whatever is paying you and them. Just to be clear, you are a mercenary like they are, so this system is a kick in the realism because now it is like they were your employees which does not make sense.
- the squad should allow not only for retreating, but for starting combat without companion and adding a squad member in the middle of combat. Basically you should be able to start combat without squad.
- squad selection: when you are selecting squad members there are 8 slots, make every 2 slots one different type of weapon, possibiliy divided by two and one handed... not only you want to make me lose my money but the training time as well for having a squad?
- there should be a % of coverage between you and your companion, to decide by the squad leader (that is, the player). Supose a selector bar between 20 and 80. You put 80 and then you have 80% of being targetted by an attack. You put 20 and then you have 20%. To me this would help the situations in which the companion gets suicidal.
And finally an opinion, to me is not very nice that you put something not fully baked like the squad in a quest line to avoid death, like not only you make something that is expensive as hell and useful as a noble manager, no, you make them necessary to survive a quest event.
Just to be clear, i think that the game is great, is unfairly addictive and fun, but i feel the squad system is not up to the rest of the game
Greetings! The game is actually very well made! In any game there is something that will irritate some players or something that can and should be improved. But the author/developer does not deny the fact - squad management needs improvement. And he even promised to look into this issue! Let's just wait (the deadline was supposed to be February). When the mechanics update comes out, we’ll evaluate it then. In the third race I went without a squad at all and I can’t say that it bothered me very much. I just saved a lot of gaming money. Maintaining your squad now is a very expensive pleasure! There is simply no way in the game to earn money from a squad to justify its maintenance. Let's see what the developer will offer after finalizing the squad mechanics.
The game is excellent and i love it!
right now i am used to the squad management and after a few extra deaths the mc is a bit more powerful, but the first time I had to manage the squad it seemed weird/unfair (that is when i put my comments)
Great Game!
Would love to see some work on squad management like being able to look at stats and items prior to hiring, or at least know what the item are and have a general hint of what they could be in the hiring interview phase before hiring them(IE like finding out how good or bad employees are after you hire them).
I would also love to give them my hand me down crafted equipment
Squad management is getting a big update in the upcoming patch (should be arriving in about a month or so). However the preview for the hiring screen is likely to stay the same due to the code limitations. But, on the other hand, there will be a ton of other reworks and improvements.
