I've bought half a dozen or so different swords but the lady doesn't seem to like them. Is there a special kind of sword she's after?

IIRC she should react well to short sword and arming sword.

Arming sword gets an acceptable response from her.
Page's sword gets a favorable response from her.

She doesn't like heavier swords but will still appreciate it. One playthrough I got my hands on a falchion (or was it a scimitar?) that I didn't plan on using so I gave it to her and she remarks on how exotic of a sword it is which surprised me haha.
