Did I really just soft lock this game?

I'm in the first camp screen and spent all of my available time training and resting -- excited to find a game like Legionary's Life so I just fell into old habits. I poked around a little bit, chatted with the folks I could chat with at least. I refused to do the castle heist because I'm a good boy. Now, I have no time left. I also have no weapon. I can't proceed because I don't have a weapon. I can't trade, presumably to get a weapon, because that requires time, which I don't have.

Am I missing something, or did I actually just soft lock this game in less than ten minutes?

Yes. You will get random weapon from heist or you need to buy one. Just start over, it's no biggie.

Yeah I complained about this bug previously. If you don't have a weapon (or don't have one you can equip) by the end of the Prologue, then you are stuck and need to start over again.

What? The wooden club with reputation loss from downfall was removed? That was the perfect way to proceed, too.

Yeah, you actually might have. There was a special mechanic to prevent this issue in previous HWR iteration but I removed it because it caused some faulty interactions for some players. I’ll do something about it in the next patch.
Meanwhile you can either start a new game or send me your save file and I’ll ‘unstuck’ you.

Thanks for the reply - I'm totally fine with being punished via fail state for trying to go to war without a weapon, but the soft lock was unexpected and had me wondering if I had actually missed something that was right in front of me. It's no problem at all to restart at this point, but thank you for the offer!

This happened to me my first time too. I was like "oh, I see. I f***ed up" lol
