In The Valley of Gods

In The Valley of Gods

Valve buying Campo Santo was the worst thing that could happen to Campo Santo
So,
there is this young fresh team of people that create an awesome story telling game (firewatch).
They try to create a second great game and Valve is thinking "hey, firewatch was great and we need something great... let's buy them".
And so the story ends... no second game by Campo Santo... no news since then... but the rumor about game paused for some trash vr game (who on earth still belives that valve still can create good games after the Artifact-disaster).

This would have not happen if microsoft, ea, sony, nintendo, epic or anyone else would have put some money into them...

We learn: never sell your soul to valve...

Well, you have a Steam account and over 600 games.

That's not my soul, that's my money ;)
And on the other side I have an Origin, Uplay, GoG, Epic, Blizzard and Nintendo Account...

But what my post was about is not that steam is bad, but that valve can't develop games anymore and if they buy indies it looks like they destroy them too...

They still can sell great games from other publishers very well...

well if you look at the shop-page, they say the game doesnt have a release date yet, so you cant say that this game is abandoned.

I did not.

And I say, that I think that if Campo Santo would be still independet we would have at least more news and prob. even a releasedate.

Interesting ! Any source please ?

I feel you're being a little harsh. Granted, the evidence is not very encouraging, but we don't know that Campo Santo is gone for good, assimilated into the Valve Collective. Until the website gets taken down and the official word-- from them-- comes down that "This game is officially canceled", I gotta keep a candle of hope in the window for it. Pointless, maybe, but life is like that sometimes.

Oh, ok. That's old news, then. The issue is that, since several months, no news, and the official trailer has even been deleted from Youtube. For a game which is supposed to be released in the next 7 months, that's not very reassuring.

Even *I* gotta admit it doesn't look good.

"This would have not happen if microsoft, ea, sony, nintendo, epic or anyone else would have put some money into them..."

Yeaaaaah, this probably would have been their fate regardless (with the possible exceptions of Nintendo and Microsoft).

EA has literally no idea what their customers want and is just a complete mess of a company at this point.

Sony... eh, maybe. They do have some good third-party games, but most of the third-party studios they've bought seem to just be working on miscellaneous projects that no one knows or cares about.

Don't know enough about Epic to judge.

Well:
let's check how EA handle the Indie-Publisher work:

https://www.ea.com/ea-originals
Unravel 1 and 2, A Way Out, Fe, Sea of Solitude...

Let's Check Epic (oh my, where to start)
Observation, Hades, The Sinking City, Close to Sun and many more Indie-Games where they put money into (yeah, with exclusive deals but... at least we can play the games)

With Sony... yeah maybe... not know about console releases tbh but... there are releases!

Stupid Valve, why are you buying new fresh developers when you immediately cancel their cool projects! I don't get this.. I was so excited for this game...

Not canceled, at least not officially, but that complete silence is telling. Not a single word from Valve or Campo Santo, complete silence for 2 years, no mention at E3, nothing. And there are rumors that Campo Santo is working at something different inside Valve.
