How to recruit Griffin?
How to recruit Griffin as Urpina? I got Chichi, so does it mean that I won't be able to recruit Griffin anymore? One reddit post said that I need to keep fighting around Marchiam Ria and then keep getting training from him in Coruna. I've been fighting for while now in Marchiam Ria and got 2 training from him, and keep returning to abandon village and Coruna, but still not able to recruit him. Is he very time consuming to recruit?

Per GameFAQs guide:

Urpina: Two methods:

A) In Chapter 1, complete the Dual Wield Side Quest and then talk to Griffin
in the Abandoned Village.

FAILURE CONDITION:
None

B) Have Griffin teach various weapon arts in Ria (Coruna), Normi
(Westdorf), Northeast Boundary (Finemundi), and Numadica (Chyokun).
After three times, you'll have the opportunity to have him join.

FAILURE CONDITION:
None

The easiest way to complete the Dual Wield quest is to go to each town starting from Ferrol and work your way counterclockwise:

Ferrol:
Converse here one time. Citizen has no clue what dual-wielding is. Dialog
between Mondo and Urpina about not giving up.

Seal:
Shoo it away. You don't want to know what happens if you don't. :(

Betanzos:
Converse one time. Still no clue. Still no giving up. Next!

Coruna:
Same drill: Converse with clueless person, don't give up. However, you can
select the middle option in town and get a Minstrel tale. If you select the
middle option again, you'll find that a short guy wants to spar with you.
You'll refuse his request for now.

Abandoned Village:
Right now, there's just an encounter with Fae Hunters. They can be a pain to
deal with, especially the one with the Short Sword (you do NOT want to get hit
with Eulogy!).

Muros:
Converse with clueless person, don't give up.

(skipping the part about recruiting Chichi since you did this already)

Arousa:
Talk to clueless person. Next!

Giant Cocoon:
A giant...cocoon...? Well the lady there says fae like to enter it. Um....next!

Pontevedra:
Talk again. Next!

Vigo:
Talk again (it doesn't matter which option you answer with). Send one of your
bench warmers on a Mission (low END is best).

Now SAVE your game! Again, if you accidentally Converse and choose to go back
to Cerenaif, you will fail the Side Quest.

Did you save? Good.

Go back to all the towns CLOCKWISE, skipping the Giant Cocoon. This time the
citizens will talk about the Faeries (or Fae). Urpina thinks they're sacrilege,
but whatever.

When you get to the Abandoned Village, this time there are no Fae Hunters. You
find the "Sprite" who turns out to be the short guy that wanted to spar with
you in Coruna. Since you interrupted his training, he just wants you to go
away. OK, jerk.

After making your way back to Ferrol, go back to Vigo and you'll be asked if
you met any faeries (answer doesn't matter). When you're done, go back to
that...thing north of Arousa:

Giant Cocoon:
This...thing. Urpina hears the faeries talking to her. They tell her to go
inside the cocoon like her brother before her. Mondo, like any sane person,
doesn't like this idea, but Urpina does it anyway.

Seven days and seven nights later, Urpina comes out of the cocoon. No, this
won't be a scene from the 1986 movie The Fly or its sequel. That would be sad.

Instead, time passes differently in there, which is long enough to learn how
to wield a Long Sword in each hand. Yay! She doesn't become a fly! She becomes
a Murder Noble!

Now go to your Retinue menu and equip that Novice Duelist role on Urpina. If
you have a second Long Sword, equip it! If you don't and you recruited Chichi,
give her Long Sword to Urpina!

Now go into a battle. You'll find that Urpina has a new technique called Dual
Cross Cut, which does extra damage to undead enemies. It's a bit expensive BP
wise, but like other techniques, if you use it enough, each Rank Up will reduce
its BP cost by 1. After using Dual Cross Cut a few times, she will glimmer
another technique called Dual Whirlwind! This technique is one of the best in
the game for its BP cost (5 is a bit expensive early on, but if you max its
Rank at 3 (III), it'll only cost 2 BP).

Before we head back to Cerenaif, let's go to...

Abandoned Village: Now the "Sprite" will recognize you for the Murder Noble
that you are, he will join you!

-----------------------------------------------------
| Griffin | 10| 15| 12| 8| 10| 8| 3|Na|G. Sword |

Like Chichi, Griffin only has 3 LP. Look at this boi's other stats, though:
DEX 15 is a lot more useful, and he has high levels in EVERY weapon except for
Staff. He's about as fragile as Chichi, but that 15 DEX can make him a great
Martial Artist (use some equipment to fix his ACU and he will Stun things with
Tumble for days!)
