There are still some tactics required but mostly it is just running and shooting.
That said, I found it to be very worth it. The levels are fun to play, each character has its strengths and weaknesses and it was fun to unlock and level up everything solo. Co-op play isn't really required to enjoy this game.
I don't know, if you don't mind waiting a bit then it's cool, just don't expect anything like Broforce because despite you not being a one hit wonder, you are typically far less of a badass and you move more slowly.
The separate optional Halloween-monster mode really does almost make everything feel like a new game, and on the co-op side may boost its challenge there because of the 'bullet sponge' aspect of the zombies.
You had to 3 star basically every mission to unlock everything. Now that they have weeklies the stars earned there can also go toward it a bit.
