Door Kickers: Action Squad

Door Kickers: Action Squad

Worth it for singleplayer?
Is it? Thinking about buying primarily to play through it myself, (despite seemingly random price increase a few months ago?) is it worth buying to only occasionally/never play multiplayer?

Also wondering about general opinions on the game. (I know the game is very different from the other Door Kickers, but does the enjoyment of that game 'transfer' to this?)

It's a very different game from original Door Kickers. I love both but this is way more accessible as a 2D sidescroller, so if you don't like those then maybe it's not for you.

There are still some tactics required but mostly it is just running and shooting.

That said, I found it to be very worth it. The levels are fun to play, each character has its strengths and weaknesses and it was fun to unlock and level up everything solo. Co-op play isn't really required to enjoy this game.

Very worth it! I have something like 240 hours on record, mostly in single player. My opinion might be biased though...
I heard the music is great too.

All of my playtime so far has been single-player, and I haven't gotten anywhere close to tired of it yet. Think you'll enjoy it. :D

It depends on whether you like fast paced games or not, you can't really go shooting or running in most cases, particularly if you want to save the hostages, and i dislike how characters seem to share stars so you have to play a lot to unlock more stuff, i get the feeling that the game is really pushing for Co-Op with the level designs.

I don't know, if you don't mind waiting a bit then it's cool, just don't expect anything like Broforce because despite you not being a one hit wonder, you are typically far less of a badass and you move more slowly.

For me, I've enjoyed revisiting it -- I was an early access purchaser very early on when we had few maps to play -- but it's more of a "dozens of hours" type game, rather than "hundreds of hours." (which I've put into things like Helldivers, Synthetik, Killing Floor 2 and Grim Dawn) And that's fine.

The separate optional Halloween-monster mode really does almost make everything feel like a new game, and on the co-op side may boost its challenge there because of the 'bullet sponge' aspect of the zombies.

You had to 3 star basically every mission to unlock everything. Now that they have weeklies the stars earned there can also go toward it a bit.

I have played virtually all solo and it is great fun.
