Shield Brace: how do I use it?

As mentioned in the title, I just haven't figured out how to use Shield Brace, one of the class talents for Shield supposed to reduce recoil by 40% when you rest your weapon on your shield. It doesn't look like it affects my own weapons' spread whether I'm standing or crouched (my guns seem to have the same spread with or without the perk), and allies don't seem affected by it when nearby either.

Does it actually work? How do I make use of it? Am I missing something?

I've just re-tested it and it still works. What it does is reduce your recoil (shot to shot loss of accuracy - or increase of spread) so this means when you fire a quick succession of shots you will see an increase in overall accuracy.

This is best noticed and tested with a high recoil semi-auto pistol such as the 1911, as the default Shield pistol, the G17 is kinda low recoil and thus can be fired - even without the Shield Brace - without much recoil penalty.

Does it make sense?

I see it now! I didn't see much of a difference on the first half of the mag, but I can see it on the last few bullets. Thank you for your time!
