I'm unsure of what your comment means in relation to the thread.
I'm hoping the developer see's and can address the issue.
The game itself is available on quest 3 in it's store and apparently runs perfectly fine, so I can't understand why the PC version says quest 3 isn't supported and then fails to load. When I originally purchased this, I could play on quest 2 no problem, through steam vr a few years ago.
I've tried changing the runtime to steamvr, as well as openxr, and nothing changes.
The game loads into balck void after claiming the HMD is unsupported, sounds can be heard but otherwise nothing else loads.
I'd personally like to load in custom tracks that have been made by others and just drum away but can't
Hi there.
I've actually discovered the exact issue and how to replicate it. Though I doubt it's worth your time as a developer to investigate it, since it isn't using officially support channels for pcvr use.
I don't like Meta's PCVR experience but their headsets are really good, SO I use a free community mod called OCULUS KILLER from github.
The reason I use this is to avoid running 2 virtual environments at the same time for no reason. I can't use steam link because my internet isn't the best. So i have to use a link cable.
In order to use Steam VR via a link cable, Meta finds it appropriate to launch users into the Rift S home, from 5 years ago, first. Rift S home is entirely unneeded.
Rather than let RIft S home run in the background, and eat resources while it's not in use, I've been using Oculus Killer to load directly into SteamVR, and manually setting the runtime to OpenXR afterwards.
A recent update, about 9 hours ago to MQL app on pc, got rid of Oculus killer, and the game suddenly began working. Though, it STILL says its unsupported on the quest 3, even though it DOES WORK now!
Hi, this was solved in my previous reply on december 4th. the runtime doesnt matter, and id recommend actually using open xr ( like what the developer recommended ) and launching in the oculus mode in launch properties because that version has more features, such as recentering, and a plethora of bug fixes compared to the steam vr launch mode
XR is oculus, VR is steam. Either can be used for this game and a mod was causing my issue, The XR launch version has more features and what I was initially having trouble with, when hopping back into vr when I made this post. It's been resolved though and I actively switch between using Oculus killer when i dont want to deal with meta's software, and then switching it off, when I'd like to use the up to date version of this game.
I wouldn't recommend airlink or virtual desktop for pcvr, especially not in games that require fast movement such as this. I use a link cable no problem. A mod that i had called OCULUS Killer, was causing my black screen, been playing no problem now
wireless may be a fine experience when you haven't ever used a link cable and can't tell the different , but it's laggy even with the best internet and computer hardware. a link cable and 40 series card ( for AV1 video) is the best and most stable experience. I just got the A7X dlc recently and compared it on link and airlink( as well as virtual desktop) and its so laggy it's not playable on the wireless options lol.
I agree, with you, the meta quest link app is generally bad, like with all meta software.
I'll be upgrading to an XR4 headset from varjo in June, so the headset type I have isn't going to matter since I'm moving to a dedicated PC only headset
I'm using
- Link Cable (wireless has too much delay, even if it's like 20ms, with music thats too much for me. If your router is extremely good it might be ok though)
- default OpenXR runtime set to Meta Quest Link
- launch option: Oculus VR Mode
Change of runtime may be needed as I have the game crashing at anything than forced openvr for some reason.
