The first two were not bad games, but they clearly had their time and the sequels learned very well from their mistakes.
In any case theres a new hitman sandbox style in the works. But yet I would agree rehashing all games with new engine would be nice. But looks like new hitman will be an even newer engine then absolution.
Make new missions for a new game!
You know, you make me think that good map-design seems to be a lost art on today's developers.
Wait, if thats the HD collection your talking about...
Its rather pointless to re-release it, the it was only "HD" because it was in 720p.
The PC versions of Hitman2, Contracts and Blood Money always could be played in 720p & beyond.
Friggen consoles, link plz, so the HD trilogys is HM2, MH 3 and HM4 with absolution engine and mechanics?!!?!?! I WANT THIS ON PC
I realize that haha. This is an old thread and it definetly seems like we won't be getting the Hitman HD trilogy anytime soon. The more I think about it actually (due to some of the comments on this thread), I'd be up for a remake of these games or a remaster on a different engine.
I tried deleting some of my comments now so I could delete this thread, but it looks like we've gone past the threshold. I'm happy for more comments on this thread but do note what I've said in the OP is my opinion and I still very much like the PC versions of the Hitman games.
Its called buying all 3 games and putting them on your prefered resolution + max settings.
It will still look better than any console out there, specially if your PC boasts a something better than 1080p
HD Trilogy is just a better resolution for the consoles, our hitman games were ALWAYS HD, as long as we could support it.
Also Hitman 2 on it comes "perma-censored", while we can still de-censored our versions.
I realize most of that and in retrospect: I'm not even sure if a HD Trilogy for PC would address the issues in this thread (the HD Trilogy introduces bugs as well). It just sounded like a good idea at the time and I'd love to play all of these games with a nice facelift + Steamworks integration.
I could swear the console versions had replaced textures in some instances but I still get your point nevertheless.
The only 2 things that bother me: widescreen is far from perfect on Contracts and Blood Money's port also suffers from a few problems and seems to be giving people a lot of issues (check the hub for recent threads esp.). Nowadays a decent widescreen fix exists for Hitman 2 so I'm pretty happy with that title.
And yes, the easiest way to grab Hitman 2 in its purest form is to grab the GOG version which is patched to 1.1 and completely uncensored.
