Hitman 2: Silent Assassin

Hitman 2: Silent Assassin

Hitman widescreen fix - UPDATED

I've gotten rid of the old hex edit fix and replaced it with a new widescreen solution (which can be accessed from the guide below).

All of the past widescreen fixes have had their issues: stuttering, black characters, non-visible cutscenes, letterboxing when using the binoculars/sniper scope/picklocking and crashes in odd places (the last two were problems specific to the old hex edit fix this guide included).

I only came across this fix after randomly browsing the Hitman: Contracts hub today (where I noticed a new widescreen fix posted by a Steam user for that game) and so I searched PCGamingWiki for both Hitman 2 and Hitman: Contracts (to see if there were any new widescreen solutions) and then I came across this new widescreen fix for Hitman 2.

So hopefully this solution now helps and is the golden one!

I've only tried it out for a few minutes, but so far it seems to work perfectly. And it looks great, too. Thanks for telling us about the fix!

Well, it fixed my black textured 47, but its kinda still bugged. Trees popping away, bodies dissapearing, everything dissapearing when i turn around, i can see piece by piece go when i move my mouse. Holes in the ground.
How do i fix this? :s

Will it be possible to make fix also for 1920x1200 resolution, please...?

If you see my guide about this resolution fix, you'll notice there's a lot of hex editing involved and I presently can't get it to work with any other resolution.... Feel free to try it yourself though:

So far it seems to work very well. I've seen a little bit of graphical weirdness, like translucent boxes on the sides of the screen during cutscenes, but that's MUCH less distracting than the problems the other fixes were giving me. You rock, man!

Haven't seen translucent boxes in cutscenes for my game but this fix does default resolution to 1920 x 1080 so chances are your PC monitor might adjust to that resolution if you don't normally play at that resolution... but yes, it's pretty much near-perfect.

Does this add new textures or something? - Because it's super easy to get Hitman in high resolution. Just open Hitman 2.ini and change the settings from 800x600 to something like 1366x768 or 1920x1080 - whatever your native resolution is. Then change "window" from 0 to 1. Both options at the bottom.

If you check the other thread, you'll see that this isn't enough. It does indeed fix the resolution, but it adds a host of other problems that basically break the game.

Also, I scanned the files before putting them in my game folder and did not get a positive for a virus.

Thanks for explaining that. Many have reported problems with just changing the .ini file (black character models including 47, black cutscenes, audio problems, slowdown/lag).

So far - people have reported nothing gamebreaking in-game, other than translucent boxes in cutscenes (which I have yet to experience). Please be warned though: this fix currently sets the resolution to a default of 1920 x 1080 and I have no way of changing this, as of yet. I am working to create another bunch of files for 1920 x 1200 but there is a lot of hex editing involved (this can be seen on the Hitman 2 widescreen guide which I posted earlier on this hub).

I was the one who mentioned the translucent boxes and it was only on the first cutscene (the one after you start the game proper, not the one before the menu). I didn't have any more problems with it after that. It works 100% as far as I can tell.

Oh really! Nice. So not actual in-game cutscenes :)

Thanks for that.

Thanks for that. Wish more people knew how an antivirus works.
