Cannot Finish First Mission "Escape in Car"

In the first mission I'm always able to kill the Mafia boss and get the key for the muscle car off his brother, however going to the car and pressing "Escape in Car" won't do anything.

I'm unsure if this is a bug or I'm just missing something, this happens both on 1.02 (censored version) and 1.01.
