Slow Motion Bug on Hitman 2 Windows 10
I know this game is so old, but it used to run fine on Windows 7. I have a new Asus laptop running Windows 10 and the game runs normally for a few seconds, and then everything slows down. Walking, running, whatever is done at half speed. Then, after a few seconds of that, it speeds up to normal again. Then it repeats.
It's so annoying. I have looked at other posts from other games, trying to get help, but can't figure this one out.
Any ideas?

Thanks!

I noticed that it might be because the fps, when it goes up the game slows down not sure if thats a cause or not. Or at least a sign

I fixed it in my RX-480's Radeon Settings.

Go to the Gaming tab, scan for the Steam game, click on it to make a profile.

If the game's engin needs something to chew on, I like Morphological Filtering, High Performance Texture Filtering Quality, Wait for vertical Sync, Tesselation Mode: Override, 64x Tesselation, and 60 fps target control.

This works for me without black characters or slowdown durring videos.

P.S. Oddly, when you bring up the Steam Overlay durring a video, it'll start playing normally without these settings. Real weird. :steamhappy:

this worked for me, and if the game says 'failed to find steam' when you launch, copy the steam.dll from the steam directory and then paste it in hitman 2's directory, simple as that

if your an amd user and you have access to overdrive. go into clock settings and lower them. (vsync does not work for amd cards in this game) also force high settings for everything in 3d options. this gets my framerate down to 300 fps. if this does not work you can go into task manager and set its afinity to one core. this should help reduce the effects of it.

You were spot on mate! I had this problem (also with hitman contracts too) and i am now using nvidia inspectors fps limiter to keep the games fps at 60, works great!

Hello!
I know this is old but I hope I can help someone that is having the same problem.
So first open the game folder Steam > Hitman 2 > Properties > Local Files > Browse Local Files

After that open hitman.ini and at the top you will see DrawDLL most likely set to D3D.
Delete D3D and set it to OpenGL :) DrawDll RenderOpenGL.dll

I got from 3000fps and slow motion to capped 60fps with that.
If that doesn't help you (which would be strange unless you have a ♥♥♥♥ PC and you shouldn't be doing this) try playing with the resolution and also bump all your settings to the max :)

Confirms this still works on modern systems after this fix, August 2021
