And it's not like it matters, you still got the SA rating
Here, on the steam version, I am getting a glitch alert marked even though they do NOT see the body. I honestly believe it is a glitch, and I KNOW it is unique to this version of the game, because I've never had this issue on any other version, and I've played them all.
It matters very much, because I am working on AZ video playthroughs (all zeros). There are only 2 levels where you cannot get AZ, basement killing and graveyard shift, which each require 1 bullet.
- Make sure the door is closed before fish prep.
- Ensure that nobody sees the transmitter/fish plant on the dish. Either roaming guard, chef, or lady. Should be alone.
- Do not run anywhere in or near the house as it will cause guards or the chef to turn. Even through walls it can happen. Walk or slide. I've found slight interruptions to guard positions or pathings can screw timing or cause issues. Like running near the chef can lock him in your direction and alter his timing.
- On the exit, take the same path as the entry and avoid walking and especially running near the house. Perhaps you are turning a guard on the other side of the wall?
- Try with FPS locked to 30 or 60. Some people say higher FPS causes more frequent bugs.
- Get closer to the gate. The fractions of a second between the kill and your exit are critical. In my run I stood directly in front of it and just on the edge of the exit zone and ran straight at it. But if you are too close it won't trigger properly if you are inside the zone. Don't see an alert pop but still 0.2s makes a difference here.
I believe that AZ with 2 shots fired I believe is the best possible final score for this game if you use fire axe on motorcade. My route was similar except I grabbed the SMG and my time was 6min0s and left in chef as well.
As to your suggestions - I actually find running next to the house, at the very end, like I do in my video, after he eats the transmitter but before he dies, helps - it turns the guards away from him so they take longer to see him dead.
I do not use the slide. seems super extra cheap to me. I do use the map to speed up lockpicks, fiber wire, and changing clothes though. Which is probably basically the same thing, but to me one feels convenient and the other feels like cheating lol.
The chef is always in the kitchen when I plant the stuff in the dish. He doesn't care AT ALL. At least, in the dish further from him - never tried the other dish.
And yes, AZ with 2 shots fired is a perfect game results. OR with 1 shot and 1 close encounter - in the graveyard shift, you CAN get the guard to shoot at you and shoot the window out for you. Not worth the trouble though, in my opinion.
I will agree with you that its probably a glitch. Steam uses the censored 1.02 version, which seems bugged. Poisoning Hayamoto doesn't even work at all on the Steam version for me but on the GOG (1.01) version it works just fine
